Hello all,

I have a question:

For our new stage production of A Clockwork Orange we are looking for a realistic looking bleeding knife (A knife which makes it look like it actually cuts and draws blood). Does anyone have any recommendations?

The best I've found so far seems this one: https://www.madabouthorror.co.uk/profess......rop.html but I find it hard to judge the quality of these things.

All best,

Harm

Harm:
A prop like this is not particularly difficult to make (especially for a stage effect), and will cost a good deal less than the 140 pounds advertised (I also note that the site you have linked is out of stock).

Have your prop department watch here: https://www.instructables.com/How-To-Cre......-Effect/

There are other (even better) ways of creating this prop, but that will certainly move you in the right direction.

Best of luck.

Hello BC,

Thanks a lot for this link, that certainly makes things easier! Actually we are looking for a version where the handle itself is the pump (so it's easier to prepare and see from different angles), but I guess there are plenty of workarounds. I'll definitely ask our set designer, but I'm a little afraid that with the cost of different materials and a few hours to make it work, making one from scratch might not be a whole lot less expensive than buying one, so I guess the mean time, if someone knows a retailer that has something similar I'm also still interested.

I've used a knife such as this. It does rattle as is, but you can reduce the rattle with handling.

If you want a knife with a concealed pump. The Parx knife is a good option although it’s a knife through arm. The handle is quick thick but will pass as a regular knife if you manage the angles. I see there is one left here https://www.magicbox.uk.com/product/tony......hru-arm/
