And here it starts to be interesting. because the cute old texas instruments 85 takes it far away from a smartphone-magic-app.
much more everybody will remember, how less these machines were able to do... and so many nice presentation possibilities. Quote:

I've just finished watching the instructions. The description and video is accurate and I would recommend. I had to wrap my head around the method but I'm glad I purchased. It will fool.
I'm a big fan of the weekly PropDog shows and would also recommend. As soon as I saw this demoed I purchased (and I trust their honest reviews), and I am not disappointed. https://www.propdog.co.uk/recent-additio......oumergue |

I later found that there are (very small) language settings, but they do not work on my phone and pc. I have sent Propdog an email regarding this as I watched the Propdog Live Show last Friday and Alex said that an instruction video would be availiable on Monday and I got the impression that it would be in English. And you are absolutely right about the head wrapping, but I have only yet to READ these instructions, maybe an English video will make things clearer? But I like the structure of the effect(s) so I am also, like you Kobra, not disappointed. |

The real beauty of the it was how basic those old graphics calculators were compared with the modern day smart phone. Smart phones can do so many amazing things that is hard to amaze people, but with those old calculators it is much easier to amaze. The big downside of course of the graphics calculators of the 90's was the volatile memory and the two batteries requirement. I hope to have some news soon on a brand new device that has the beauty of the non modern smart phones but the retro quaintness of the old I-85's without the battery issues. andy

Hello everyone,
I am pleased to announce that a new device has just been released by Chris Wasshuber and Gaetan Bloom at Lybrary.com. You can see close-up photos, watch a demo video and read my review here. I love what Chris has done with this unit and will be using this instead of the Al Stanger version going forward. andy

I have performed for a long time a similar effect, the Fitch Cheney Five Card trick https://www.lybrary.com/fitch-cheney-5ca......773.html on my iPhone. It is a good trick. But the reactions to the Bloom Poker Machine are significantly stronger. Asking spectators afterwards about their reactions one quickly learns that iPhone tricks are just not very impressive because for the average person an iPhone is a miracle by itself. It can do so many things that are beyond the understanding of most. Therefore, no matter how impressive your iPhone trick is, the explanation in the spectator's mind is always, "some clever app", which diminishes the strength of the effect, and does not credit the performer for the miracle. With the Bloom Mirakle Poker machine we have purposefully avoided this by using a device that is very simple and in the mind of the spectator not capable of anything like an iPhone. Therefore the mystery is much stronger because an easy explanation doesn't immediately present itself. Bottom line is that the reactions are much stronger with a device that does not look it is capable of sophisticated things like a smart phone.

I disagree.
The idea that is an app, and I can be open about it is what appeals. Predicting shuffled cards is simply impossible, and I am often given the credit for slieght of hand even though it is hands off. |

Will this stay updated? I bought and loved the Yves Card Oracle. I was gutted when I got a new phone and realized I could never use this again. I was sincerely saddened and it significantly reduced the number of app purchases I’ve made since. This was an incredible routine and development. I just feel sick buying it for a third time (as I had an Incredible Poker Machine as well).
Any thoughts ? English instructions yet? |

It seems phones see updates in their operating system every couple of weeks. A dedicated device like the Al Stanger poker machine or the Bloom poker machine avoid this issue completely.

What you get with the new version is a website that you log into, so no app that would break or need updating, the website works and is formatted for mobile so will work in mobile browser or can be added to your home screen on iOS (I assume same for Android) and when you buy from Propdog you get an English video with Alex taking you through all the workings etc. hope that helps.

A web-app is better than a native app in terms of compatibility, but it still needs to be updated regularly, because web-standards change, browsers change, etc. I have sold HTML ebooks 20 years ago and moved away from them due to the frequent browser changes. Keeping everything working across all major browsers and platforms was a headache.
The underlying problem that the app or web-app stops working at some point remains. The person who is responsible for updating the software may die (see John Mendoza issue with Al Stanger Poker Machine which could lose its software). A dedicated device with the software permanently on it, like the Bloom Miracle Poker Machine, doesn't have these issues.
