Thanks Tom!
There are many versions available. Of course you may like other more than this one. Still this have several improvements over all others. Have new effects that none of the others can do. You can also make your own routine choosing which effects to do. You can choose from 7 different. You can have 5 routines in the same board. It has a very nice final prediction. Believe me this can not be made for $35. The board is so special that can not be manufactures with standard procedures. Also the code, which we will release under open source, is very valuable. It took months of programming. Releasing it will allow anyone to improve or implement their changes. When you pay for a product you don't only pay for the cost of the material, but also for the work behind. 210 EUR price is not enough for 5 years of R&D, 160 circuits boards made for prototyping, 8 different version before final release. But its a personal project. Sometimes you invest much more, just because you like what you are doing. Im sure that most of the supporters will see the high quality, so much details and great love the product has.

Yeah! Two editions sold out in 48 hours!
We opened reservation for 3º batch. The discount was supposed to be available only until reservations were sold out. As we know many magicians didn't even have time to reserve their own, we wanted to open the new reservation still with some discount. This time the discount is 31€, so the price will be 179€. If this reservation are sold out, remember the price will be 210€. This is the new link to reserve 3º batch: https://ideaalab.com/en/shop/magic/reser......d-detail

5 years? 160 boards? I guess it was a fun, learning experience.
I am not sure what R and D you had, this magic trick is 40 years old, and many open source projects showing how to build your own. I would never use a PCB over colored wires when showing a simple circuit. The convincer is showing the simple circuit with no special electronics. For those looking for DIY here are free files. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2021161/apps You can update to your liking. |

Before that we tested several other production methods which didn't work. If you want to do the same as 40 years ago, then most other versions will suffice. But if you want to build your routine, the length you want, and choosing from 7 different possible effects, then our version is unique. Many many improvement were made, and you will not have enough time in your life to test all possibilities. Building your routine offers you: -- two hundred eighty-one trillion four hundred seventy-four billion nine hundred eighty million -- different possible routines. And I bet you didn't even read the whole number. Quote:

And that is a fooler by itself. Ours have the "wires" visible, but they are called "tracks". So even with no electronic knowledge you will easily understand how it works. If you want to build your own, then just buy an Arduino and learn to program. You can do your own, from scratch or start from one like the one you showed. Even you can use our code in your own build and get all the cool features we have, as Switch Board is open source. Still you have to understand the basic of electronics and programming, but no big deal

How do you switch between routines? Can you connect the board somehow to a computer?
Or can you switch them on the fly? |
|||||||||
Martin Andersen Regular user Spain 158 Posts |
You can switch the routines on the fly. Perform one routine, finish, and the next second do a different one... or the same... 5 routines to choose!

Martin,
Just to clarify what ever price you get this for we have to add 21% on, as all the prices on the site are NOT inclusive of tax? I do quite a bit of Arduino programming as well as C++ is there an interface so I can plug this into my laptop? Thank you. |
|||||||||
Martin Andersen Regular user Spain 158 Posts |
The price is final. Only the reservation has to add tax if applicable.
There is no interface to connect to a computer. You would have to use some alligator clips grabbed to the bulb holders in order to change programming, and use your own programmer or an "Arduino as programmer". Of course this is ONLY if you want to make your own special code or modify the existing. To use ALL features of Switch Board this is not needed in any case. No one freak out!

Nono, reservation is 1€ + tax!

Not usually my type of magic, but I'm a gadget freak and magician, so I've reserved one of these (well, I hope I'm among the next 3rd batch!!!). I will look forward to performing this trick (effect, puzzle???). I already knew about the magic switchboard and the various websites showing how to make it, trust me guys it is not as easy as you think, and the programming, Ouch! I got better things to do with my time so I'm happy to pay for one of these lovely looking props already to perform.
Thanks to Martin Andersen, for the effort and time he's put in to it. Can't wait for late January for one to arrive!!!! Stay Safe all. |

I reserved one early on the 24th. Not sure if I’m in the first batch or the second.
I already own a Magic Switchbox IIISE+, which I’ve had great fun with. I picked it up a year ago at a local Ring swap meet. Only paid $25 for it, got a heck of a deal. Still, I think this IDEAA Lab model will suit me better. I like the fact that it is so thin. And I like the use of LED bulbs (they *are* LEDs, right?). The incandescent bulbs for my IIISE+ have their color painted on the glass. It’s starting to flake off in a few spots (yes, I know replacements are available). Fingers crossed I’ll get my new one by Christmas. Mark

For all of you who don't know which batch are you in you can check the confirmation email of your reservation: under the “Ref.” column, you will see “ SWITCH-BOARD-RESERVA3” if you are in the #3 batch. For those of you who are in #1 and #2 will not have the “3” in the Ref column.
