Just some random Sunday evening thoughts;
I 100% believe that creators should/can charge whatever they feel. But..having already purchased Steam, and Classified, this price point is (imo obviously) hard to justify. Maybe there’s some new twist I’m unaware of though, I don’t own this incarnation. Chris seems like a great guy/mentalist/person/thinker (!) for the record. I’ve found his takes, and variations, to be interesting alternatives. Also, his success is undeniable. Ultimately though, I’ve never found any to be a variation that would replace, or improve, whatever id been doing before. And the price point always seems (again, imo) noticeably high by most measures. Also, this is a case where I think Chris could (very) safely show multiple real life performances, and easily conceal the method to most. Anyway friends, just some side noise on the topic. I don’t own this, so feel free to completely ignore all of this. Just don’t hate on me though, I’m having a pleasant day and hope everyone here is also.

There are several things about this that makes it not good for me. I left a detailed and honest review on penguin that hopefully will post there within the next couple of days. I do not want to type all of that out again, but I will hit the highlights.
**KEEP IN MIND, EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT! THESE ARE JUST MY OPINIONS** First, the price point...i really have an issue with once I got it and seen what it is. Don't get me wrong. I love me some capitalism. I think the creator has the right to charge what they want, and as consumers we can choose to buy it or not. I chose to buy it. But **TO ME**....this does not offer **TO ME** anywhere close to $200.00 in value. I believe a decent fair price for this to be around $50.00 to a max of $75.00 But, all power to him for charging what he feels it is worth. Some folks will love this method, and think it is a bargain. I am just not one of them. I am sick to my stomach because I have spent 200.00 on something that I promise you, I will never use. Not even once. I am not saying the effect isn't good. But what I am saying is...there was certainly a certain amount of deception in the advertising. I do not believe anyone was intentionally trying to deceive us in any way. I believe the reason we never got to see an uncut performance in full, was simply out of a necessity to protect the method. And, I am OK with that. But...I can tell you that for me, the trailer sold this to be something that *IN MY OPINION*, it just isn't. It is not 100% in all truthfulness, a situation where you never have to touch anything. there is a little bit of intellectual dishonesty with that perception being the selling point. Again, I do not think this is intended. I think its just a matter of perspective. But for me...I did not find it to be what I believed I was buying. I feel like there are far better methods that cost far less. Proteus for example...is 50.00 bucks-ish. And it truly is a method that doesn't require your hands to ever touch anything. This is the fairest I can be on my review. Again, I feel terrible and I hate publicly saying anything bad about what Chris has accomplished with this. He is a brilliant mind. In spite of me having a ton of respect for Him, nothing is going to make this "OK" for me to use. I will reach for Proteus instead. and had I known then what I know now, I would have saved myself $200.00 I am sick over the amount I spent on something I will never use in the history of ever. |

My review posted this morning at Penguin, along with 2 others that felt the same way. So after a week of pushing the advertisement, at least a few of us bit and bought in on it, and are having buyers remorse. BE CAREFUL with this one. as good as it makes you feel, what it offers...it is NOT what you are led to believe. and I HATE saying that. makes me very sad.

Steven, can I ask that if you had seen a full performance (before buying it) would you still have bought it? Thanks |

I've just read all 13 pages of this post regarding Contl + C, after I watched the trailer I was tempted to buy it now, the 200 price tag is neither here or there for me personally, however I am looking for a trick that does exactly what I saw in the trailer, totally hands off. BUT, I read the reviews on Penguin from those who had ACTUALLY purchased the item, and 3 out of 4 of them were bitterly disappointed. One common factor they all stated was regarding the trailer leaving out a crucial part. Here's the problem I have. After reading some posts here, including from Chris Rawlings too, it would appear that someone somewhere is not being honest. Some say you never have to touch the card, envelope at all... where by the reviewers suggest otherwise????
I notice Chris was very clever in his actual wording, let me remind you.. "Whilst out the room and you are also facing away they place the drawing into the envelope" - This sounds good to me everything happening out of sight from performer. "From the moment that envelope goes into their pocket, it does not need to ever come back out." - Mmmm slightly creative wording here... From the moment.. Does that mean after the performer has handled the said envelope with drawing inside for whatever reason? "All envelopes are opaque and normal" - Yes OK that seems obvious, so we are happy with this statement! "You do not ever touch their card and the spectator can (if you wish) place the smaller envelope in the larger." - I'm guess he's using this touching term because you don't need to 'actually' touch the card, but then again are we not talking about a peek method anyway!!! "Once their drawing is inside both envelopes it goes immediately into your spectators possession" - Mmmm, but surely if their drawing is done by them AND placed in the envelopes isn't it already in 'their possession'??? This statement confuses me, how can it 'Go into your spectators possession' IF its already held by them! I would love to just have a straight answer to a straight question... If this trick appears EXACTLY as shown in the trailer, the Card and Envelope are NOT held or indeed touched by the performer at ANY point (apart from the beginning when they are shown and handed out), then I'm buying this today. Can someone please just give a simple answer, please! |

Hey Mark,
"Whilst out the room and you are also facing away they place the drawing into the envelope" - This sounds good to me everything happening out of sight from performer. - This is completely true and happens across the room or out of the room. "From the moment that envelope goes into their pocket, it does not need to ever come back out." - Mmmm slightly creative wording here... From the moment.. Does that mean after the performer has handled the said envelope with drawing inside for whatever reason? - Obviously there is something here at play, it’s not actual Mind reading (Sorry!) but also a true statement, I assure you. - You never touch their card and are never near it when it is outside of an envelope. - that's really talking about how Nick does it on the trailer - where he places the smaller into the larger envelopes. [/quote] I can’t say more than I have answered above, not here but I’m happy to have a Zoom call with you tomorrow and possibly talk in more detail. I hope that helps, though remember I am protecting the secret for selfish reasons and to protect those that have bought it. Chris

The creative wording in the description does have the feel of a (failed) transparent DR being attempted. Also, whenever a response is basically, “I didn’t invent real mind reading” I get a bit green and nauseous tbh. Anyway, I’m glad we have the Café as a resource.

If you wanted something that was completely 100% hands free then you'd be spending a whole lot more than $200.
Yes, you have to be close enough to do something. However, you never have to touch the card they've drawn on or even the envelope they put it in. What matters is how they remember it. When I do it what they remember is leaving to a different location making a small drawing, sealing it shut inside an envelope and signing their name across the flap and then taking that envelope and sealing it shut inside of a another that they also sign across the flap. All while I was nowhere near them and with my back turned the entire time. Then after I leave and go home I call them and have them hold the envelope near the phone and through remote viewing I can describe exactly the drawing twice sealed inside of an envelope that they can open and verify if they should choose. Yes, a few details have been omitted but that's the story they will tell. What else matters. |

I would love to outline exactly what I dislike about this and why I feel it is misrepresented. But, it would give too much away so I will not do that. While I appreciate very much the offer to speak with me directly and help me get more out of it.. unfortunately I am not really interested in it. I do not have any issue with believing I can perform this...it is just the fact that I never would perform this. There is something in the handling that I feel is wonky and is the reason I feel the trailer leads you to believe something that isn't true.
It's not a lie...again I do not believe Chris had any intention of lying, or even purposely misleading. But even with best intentions...it is misleading. I will say again I have great respect for Chris. I am not meaning to be disrespectful or intentionally damaging to his sales. I am sure many will purchase despite my review. And I'm sure many will love it. But for me. This was a complete bust and I will never in the history of ever perform this effect with this method. |

I do not know Chris, and prior to this thread knew nothing of CTRL-C or its predecessors. But, it saddens me to see the man or his product picked apart. If you haven't bought this, chances are this thread won't sway you. So why continue? Can't one agree to disagree? OK, so you think it's pricey. I doubt 13 pages here will lower the price. You may think the ad is misleading, but clearly Chris is sticking with his ad copy, and no complete performance will be posted. Can we agree to accept this?
Every aspect of this has been put under a microscope. At some point we need to say "Yep, this is all I know." and accept that this is or is not for you. Mathematically it breaks down to a buck and a quarter a performance. We literally burn that much every time we use flash paper. Can we give the guy a break yet?
Your choices in life can be compared to watching a magic trick: You can continue to believe the illusion in front of you, find the intrigue and desire to learn more, or quit paying attention the moment you feel deceived.
