Bounce-no-Bounce Balls and Scotch and Soda are a couple of others.
Here is Daryl's Bounce-no-Bounce Balls, which I own. The booklet has some great presentation ideas. https://www.daryl.net/product/bounce-no-bounce/9 |

To make your magic begin to "zing":
Pick up a copy of THE SECRETS OF ALKAZAR by Allan Zola Kronzek. This teaches some fine magic and the all-important presentation ideas that lift mere tricks into miracle material. Study carefully, as Kronzek teaches you how to create your own fresh presentations, too! Then move on to Harry Loraynes's THE MAGIC BOOK. You won't be sorry for either purchase if you give these the study and practice that they deserve. |

In my opinion, Spider is right. I mean, we're talking 110% correct.
I fully plan on telling people that THE SECRETS OF ALKAZAR is the *best* beginner magic book on the market. The writing is sharp, it covers so many facets of magic, and it's just plain fun. And it's a short book. It's "right-sized," in my opinion for the beginner. Too many magic books (and too many magic sets) take the "everything and the kitchen sink" approach. "Here's 150 effects for you to get *started* with." And that's just too much! Start instead with something small, manageable, joyful. Start with just enough knowledge, then get out there and start performing. THE SECRETS OF ALAKAZAR does just that. And then, then! Then once you have a unique show of your own (which you'll learn how to script and put together, thanks to your mentor Alkazar), and you've "road tested" the effects on family, friends, and anyone else you can get as an audience, then I would recommend moving on to Mr. Lorayne's THE MAGIC BOOK, or Mark Wilson's COMPLETE COURSE IN MAGIC. Because now you'll have that first show, that initial "skeleton" to work from. And you can then add new effects from those larger, meatier books. There's obviously no way to prove it, but I do believe with my whole soul that if every kid curious about magic was started off THE SECRETS OF ALKAZAR, the necessary props for the effects in the book, and *nothing else,* at least for a little while, that magic would be an infinitely more popular pursuit than it is today. I feel that strongly about the book. If I had the resources (one day, maybe), I would buy the book by the crate and send it to anyone and everyone. Like a magical Johnny Appleseed. |

One more thing:
There are TWO different versions of THE SECRETS OF ALKAZAR available: the physical copy, and a digital version of the book. I own both, and prefer the physical version. First, I just prefer physical books more. Second, the digital version has different illustrations from the origial physical version. I guess Mr. Kronziak (or the publishers, rather) lost (or didn't have, or something) the right to the artwork when the digital version was being put together. So a different (skilled and wonderful, to be sure) artist was hired to provide illustations to the various effects. And while they're *good,* I happen to think the originals were better. Your mileage may vary. I own both versions, and am grateful to do so. But given a choice, the origial, physical version. All day, every day. |

Well, as far as my VERY limited experience goes -card magic-, I find that in the "older" books (Buckley's, Hilliard's, and so on..) there's a lot of what your asking.
Pretty simple tricks, with just a few moves, not too hard, with a "clean" deck, and great presentations wich, in most cases, is what keeps those tricks away from a contemporary mind: you have to adjust the patter, to some degree, in order to fit our modern habits, but still.. |
