Yes, Henry has been performing this for a while. This video is 4 years old:

In this video clip, he takes the cap off of the Sharpie and puts it back on without a switch.
I’ve mentioned this before, and surprisingly, no one seems to care very much. I think it’s kind of a big deal. Was it a prototype?

He is in fact switching it in and out there. The switch is easy and looks that good.

Look again. I see him remove the cap and place the uncapped sharpie on the table. At the end, he clearly recaps the sharpie. He doesn't do the switch shown in the tutorial. Probably the earlier prototype could be capped on the sharpie but causing it to fall with the coin. Current version will not fall with coin.

Clearly, there’s no switch. Actually, I think it plays better when the cap falls too.

Agreed. Definitely plays better when cap falls in my opinion.

Just guessing, but it just occurred to me that even though the cap can be removed and placed back on the Sharpie, in that video, it can't be examined.
So he probably opted for the current version so that it could be.

Current version also can't be examined.

I guess I meant that in the spectator’s eyes, it can be.

The cap falling over looks very natural in that video. It also suggests that the participant could see inside the lid. The combination of both the lid falling over and being able to see inside it works quite well as an unstated convincer that the lid is normal.

This earlier demonstration with the red cap looks very good and natural

It could also work like Magnet-O, but with a smaller and deeper seated G-unit

The red cap is of the classic method

I have chosen to permanently remove the little black 'cap' that sits inside the lid. To me it looks and feels way more like a genuine sharpie lid now.

I have done the same often and now the cap can also fall sideways together with the coin

In any case, a good alternative to perform the trick, hardly noticeable under glass ...

How do you hide the USB port?

Unless you’re looking for it, it’s not noticed.

Agreed, you really don't notice it.

I think this holds true with the cap without removing the little cap. Especially since the spectators can look at the normal sharpie and cap before the routine starts.

So, anyone else notice that if your not using this, the battery drains in a week or 2?
does that sound normal for this type of device?
