Yesterday was my first live show after 9 months. It was a last minute notice.
I normally have a sound assistant to control my music. But this time, I had to do everything myself. I use the Show Cues app for Ipad. I was struggling on where to hide the remote (pants pocket, vest pocket, inside below my vest). It was too obvious that I was fumbling with it. I just placed it on the table instead and picked it up every time I needed to change the music. Looking for advice on how to use this remote discreetly. How to attach it to one's clothing for ease of use. I know there was a post on this but could not find it.

Hi Lou Hilario,
I have used this set up for a few years after trial and error. First, I got a large and small crystal rhinestone jewel. They are flat on the back and I super glued the small one to the forward button on my remote and the large one to the play button. I also found a large washing detergent bottle, like tide- it has a slight curve like your the thigh of your leg. I took my performance pants and traced the right pocket shape onto the curved plastic, cut it out and the took Velcro to the back of the remote and onto the plastic - I like it to be positioned near the top of the plastic, slightly to the side seam of my pants. Because of the rhinestone jewels I can run the remote be simply touching the buttons through the material of my pants pocket. My hand never has to go into the pocket, I have a reference point for the buttons that are not marked with jewels and no one ever sees the remote. This is my set up and it works for me, maybe not for you, but it’s a starting point. Good luck my friend! |

I put it on my belt. I use the rhinestones that you can get at the dollar store to you can put on the back of phones. It will also go into the front pants pocket.

"Flick" button in the pocket.
It is so small you can hide it almost anywhere! |

Yes, the additional “button” is vital. My show pants are perfect as the existing pocket terminates just where my hand rests naturally hanging at my side. For me, learning to trigger my tracks requires just s much misdirection as anything in my show. I’ll typically allow my hand to drop and register on the button, then press it as I raise my hand for something else covering a smaller motion with a greater one. There is one cue where I needed both hands free... so I added 4 seconds of dead air to that track, I can trigger the track, raise my hands as the music starts at the perfect time. It’s both an art AND a science!
