Hello café fellows,
Merry Christmas and happy holidays and I hope 2021 will suck less. My friend Benjamin released a new remote, thought from the ground up to serve the magic community: https://www.thoughtcastmagic.com/versa It is compatible with TimeSmith and the SBWatch (you can use it with or without the phone) and the combo app, watch and phone is definitively a killer. (Full disclosure I helped with the FW) More info about TimeSmith/SBWatch on a different thread by Benke: https://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/view......orum=218

What can this be used for? For example can it control music on my iphone? What else?

For $200 , can anyone confirm this will work with the TW? The website seems to dance around a direct answer.

It does because of the generic protocol they use but not officially like it is with the SBwatch

So Benke doesn’t wish to support TW “unofficially” as Versa apparently does?

It is not Benke's problem... he would do if they would let him do... Benke doesn't offer a remote, nor a watch. His app works with all devices if possible... what's possible depends on what other allow him to do. Jan

So glad I didn't purchase a watch from the Turn-our-back boys. They appropriately titled their company because nobody knows if they'll get support from the T boys or not.
VERY happy with my watch from Andras. And I'm going to buy Andras's pocket watch version when he releases it too. As for remote controls... There is at least one other model of direct-connect (no app needed) remote coming from a reputable maker of professional quality remotes. I'm waiting for that. Mark

The new Wilson won’t directly connect. He said that’s something possible in the future.

AFA as a wristwatch, my T watch is still 100% reliable and I love the calculator mode on the app so don’t see any compelling reason to switch at this point. However, once I own a pocket watch I won’t need or use a wristwatch version anyway. The pocket watch always seemed more logical and made more sense to me, as well as having advantages on several different levels. Back on topic...Now do I understand correctly that this Versa remote bypasses using your phone completely? Do you even need to have your phone with you? Does it offer tactile feedback like Joao Miranda's remote? Hopefully it doesn’t work similarly to the lie detector remote as that was very cumbersome. |

1. Yes it connects directly to the watch as well as having the option of using it to swipe on the phone.
2. Yes it has vibrations that are adjustable depending on how strong you have it. Are you in the TimeSmith or turner watch group? There are some videos there. |

This is much smaller than any other option. I’ve been trying mine with the SB watch and it works very well. The time sets quickly and has multiple modes to set the time directly. It also works with the TimeSmith app. This is definitely one of the best apps out there. Also having fun using with architect of predictions so the phone can be out the whole time. Highly recommended.

I love the lie detector trick (I added some improvements to the app: full disclosure) as it's fantastic with kids that will believe of lying so hard to break the phone.

Yes, sorry, I should have been more specific.
The lie detector remote is great when used with the lie detector app. The remote can also be set up to work with the T watch but after Apple changed the way it handles bluetooth it made using the lie detector remote with the watch a pan. |

Ok. I assume you’re talking about switch control. If you want to use this to swipe you also have to do that. I’ve used switch control for a long time and I don't think it’s that bad. Just three button presses and you’re good to go.

You can set the time (see TW instructions for swipes) and even reset it the time with one button press. Using Switch Control or Keyboard Control on iOS is totally fine. You don’t need to buy a 200$ remote just to control your TW! Btw...200$ for a remote is outrageous in my opinion. |

I am absolutely thrilled with my Wilson Magic Remote. It’s a 4 button remote but it only takes 2 additional button presses to set the time on my watch (6 button presses vs. 4). It works through the TimeSmith app, not directly to the watch, but TimeSmith has native support for Bluetooth keyboard protocol remotes.
It’s an expensive option but well below $200. Mark
