Hey guys. I bought a little coffee grinder the other day and ground my own beans for the very first time. (30 years drinking instant). Anyway- wow! Its like night and day. Sooo good. Can't believe what I've been missing.

I really enjoy the 8 o'clock coffee bean brand.
Are you drip brewing or using french press? |

Although I have stopped drinking coffee I still love the smell and sound of it percolating. Not sure what sort of coffee machine we have but it is compatible with ground coffee.

Enjoy
There are many coffee's available, some which are quite pricey. My granddaughter (4) is autistic, she loves spinning around. She seen me grinding beans with my hand grinder so she jumped into my lap and took over the grinding process. We now have our own kind of together/play time. |

One of the 'simpler'....pleasures in Life. 🙂
....they're the BIG ones(!). ☺️ “You should never hesitate to trade your cow for a handful of magic beans.” After starting to grind my own beans, I came to fully undersand what Tom Robbins was talking about. 🙃 Enjoy. gallagher p.s.: I kinda prefer Lavazza beans, myself. Luigi Lavazza 'malts' them, ,.,,germinates them twice. His coffee is a bit 'sweeter', with no added sugars. |

Thank you for that gallagher. I shall look into those beans.

Yes, grinding beans makes a huge difference...you can really taste the difference. I've got a little rotary grinder. Coffee snob friends insist a burr grinder is the only way to go...it makes the grounds more uniform. But it's a bit more costly and I can't taste the difference.
Coffee snob friends also insist that roasting your own beans elevates everything. But you have to buy green coffee beans in bulk, then buy the roaster, and then the time to do it all...way too much work for me. I've got a whole cabinet of coffee making stuff...espresso machine, stove top espresso maker, pour over cones, copper turkish coffee maker, french press. But as I've been working for home, have been using a drip coffee maker on a timer set up night before so my coffee's ready when I wake up (and found a local super market blend that surprisingly good). Favorite technique is French Press. Years ago I got one as a gift, and didn't like it at first. You have to experiment on type of coffee, the grind, and steeping time to find combination that's right for you. Plus, as the water steeps the ground beans, you get more of the oils from the bean. Makes for a much different flavor. But once I hit on the combination, I loved it. Used the glass press so much I broke it. Found a stainless steel press at Starbucks for $20. Love it as it's unbreakable, a good size (about 3 large cups) and it's got insulated walls so coffee will stay hot. Highly recommend it.

Interesting, I've never tried French Press.

For my birthday last year, my better half gave me a travel mug... now, mind you, it isn't just any travel mug, it is a french press.
The coffee grounds go in, add the water, let steep, press the sleeve with the screen down, and I have french press to go. |

Always seems to taste off to me. A few years ago I was staying in a hotel that had a Nepresso machine....that I loved! Great machine. But I'm too cheap to get one.

I do believe that I am going to be in search of the brand gallagher mentioned. I like trying different brands. (Same thing with beer.)

I buy Lavazza espresso at our local grocery store that's part of the Kroger chain. Not sure if I've seen their beans.
