I've got some guests, friends from the states, in my house and we got to talking about card tricks etc. They wanted to know how the hell do the street hustlers do the 3 card monte tricks. Well, I got out the aformentioned cards and proceeded to 'demonstrate' how they do it.
Ha, ha, my friends were speechless! |

Meilechi,
Learn the real "hype" and all the rest from Whit Haydn's book and video, which includes a lot of Gazzo information. He used to work the real thing in England. Jim

Yeah, but it's nice to be able to hand out the cards and it's nice to be able to use anyone's cards.

I don't really do the three card monte as part of my routine, I just keep it in my pocket for the occasional 'how they cheat you' demonstration. I do perform colour monte, though, all the time.

I do both Monte's. They both have a lot of bonus's. JamesinLA
If you want to show your cards after just put them back in the wallet. Everbody say's "let me see those cards" at wich point you pull out the real cards and hand them over. |

I have already been asked for the cards and I've experimented with various clean-ups but this time they didn't ask. The reason for this is because I didn't present it as a trick but rather as a 'demonstration'. I think that from now on this will be the presentation I'll use.

I love Skinner's Ultimate Monte, Color Monte, Sidewalk Shuffle, and even the old "Tree Card Monte" where the "tree of hearts" is found by the spectator.
I like following up Ultimate Monte with "The Stolen Cards" as both can be presented with a Las Vegas theme. (Any second now someone may pop up a warning here about doing Monte tricks on the street. Wait...I just did it!) alan

Bill Malone's handling of Skinner's routine is awesome. Also, if you're interested in monte routines, check out Bob Farmer's Bammo Monte Monster!

Though I typically perform 3 card monte without gaffs, I do like Skinner's 3 card monte. It is very strong, and to some spectators seems a bit more magical than the standard routine. But, I am old school and tend to throw regular 3 card monte.
