Meir has acquired the rights to several items of David's. The Eraser Coin was long unavailable because David didn't want too many people to do it! He used to sell it at lectures, then stopped many years ago. The Eraser Coin is available in 1964 90% silver (what David used), 40% silver (65-69) and clad (which is the type David had sold). They have been modified slightly to make it even more illusive, and is probably the easiest miracle to carry around with you every day. And, for those who don't know, you get a miracle with no sleight of hand, the coin does all the work for you! But it's not gaffed (technically) and totally examinable - no switches needed! Thanks to Meir for putting out such a wonderful effect, long unobtainable.

May I put in a plug for Dr. Mike?

One of the BEST effects I have in coins is this, in both quarter and half dollar:

Okay. You got me. I sent my $0.25 and a SASE for that fancy trick hyped in the comic book LOL That Eraser Coin is EXACTLY perfect for my conceptualization of my coin repertoire and every day carry plans. I couldn't risk it going scarce like some Magic Wagon limited edition deal.

I already am scripting my own presentation that is a whole other story than David's. I like that part a lot.

Meir has created a wonderful idea with the eraser coin, where instead of using an eraser, he dips his finger into a "strong" drink, then uses his wet finger to erase the coin. Great idea! See his performance here:

I dug up something I had, called Emery Cloth, which I used to "soften" the coins I use for my 3-Fly. It is strong stuff. Anyway, I'm going to try to erase part of a Sakajewea (sp?) Coin. Then I'll know what's inside those and maybe get an eraser coin gaff that way. Meir said he'd make other coins (quarters maybe?) but not for a while. I'll get back to you as to what I find out. Don't get me wrong, Meir's are great. I'd just like to have one or more that are coins in common modern usage. I like half-dollars but one doesn't see them in change anymore.

It’s going to take a while to polish the raised detail and rim flat using emory cloth. Reshaping the coin will also take effort. A tool with a motor, even a drill, would be more practical.

Please do not use your fingers or thumb as guide when using powertools, instead hold the coin in a clamp.

I like the effects I'm getting with the emery cloth by hand thanks. The people I make props for love my work. Watch your fingers man.

I believe he is going to release both Roth's Blank Coin routine as well as the Portable Hole in the near future.

I'm jumping in with a slightly different topic related to the Nowhere Palm, often credited to Geoff Latta. I just remembered Sol Stone telling me a story about a guy with arthritis who was at the Saturday restaurant and showed Geoff the ring-finger curlpalm he used because with his arthritis and it was the only thing he could do. Sol remembered that it was soon after this that Geoff began showing his joke of being able to twirl a coin with a coin in supposedly edge grip. (The Nowhere Palm) Sol believed this was the origin. I can't remember the guy's name. I think Sol told me, but it may be in my book about 50 Years Inside the Magic Circle published by Lybrary.com. I'll look and see. I'll get back to this thread, which I started, if I find the guy's name. So, back to David Roth who we all miss. Sorry about the interruption.

Hi everyone, this is Regina - close friend of David's since meeting him at a Saturday at the Governors in NYC. Hello to those of you here who remember me Smile

I just wanted to let everyone here know that back in January I gave Bill Kalush David's original journals, with the agreement that he would have them in exchange for scanning and releasing them to the magic community. Bill let me know me back in June that he has had some difficulties in getting these out due to recent under-staffing, but they will be available soon!

It has been great to read the stories here, lots of good history and good memories. Wish we could all share one more Saturday at Tannens in the 70's or 80's.

Hi Regina, welcome aboard! For those who don't know, Regina was David's friend and manager for many years! Good to hear that the journals will be out soon! They will be a treasure of information!
Jon, since you brought up David's Blank Coin Routine (in Rubinstein Coin Magic), Meir Yedid has the rights to market David's material and will be putting out a set of coins with a video tutorial sometime in the near future!

That was great Darko, I never saw that performance. What was that done for? A TV spot?
