As a lot of you may know one of my magical hero’s has passed away. David Roth was THE GREATEST coin magician that ever lived. His routines and sleights and concepts have influenced an entire generation of coin magicians.
I wanted to pay tribute to David the only way I know how - by doing a special video all about his magic. In this special 5x5 myself and Ryland perform some of David’s classic routines. I talk about why they work and why it’s important all magicians should study them even if you aren’t a ‘coin guy’ like me. David maybe gone but his creations will live on everyone they are performed by other magicians. Here’s the link. Let me know what you think. https://youtu.be/-hWjXAOLPt8 |

I did not know that David passed away. Last performance of his I saw was on Penn and Teller's Fool Us. Thanks for the tribute video, I will watch later. |

Very nice, Craig. I actually was able to see David perform early on when he first started a lecture tour around the country. In the 70s I had two great mentors: Paul Diamond and Fantasio. Because of them we got some great lecturers. I remember seeing David do the Hanging Coins. You have to remember that this was before it's become kind of a coin norm. I remember the feeling of being so amazed. I had no idea where the goings were going and was even more amazed when he taught the routine.
Years later, in 90s, I ran into David at Tannen's. He proceeded to fool me with his version of the ten card poker deal. A lot of guys don't know, but David was also a very skilled card guy. He will be missed and his legend will always continue. Greg
