I remember seeing but can't seem to relocate it on how to count 3 coins from my left hand into my right hand but retaining 1 coin in the left for the 1st traveling coin of 3 coins across. None gimmick or no extra coins. It wasn't the pinky pinch. Might have been a click pass or something. I looked at my Roth dvds and Sankey coin dvds but don't seem to be on those.
Any ideas?
Thank you

Be sure to check out false counts in Rubinstein Coin Magic. You can also find many ways on the NYCMS DVD series, especially volume one, a two disc set on Clins Across. But there are ways taught in Bobo's New Modern Coin Magic as well.

I can immediately think of four ways to do this, each related to hand/body position, framing, setting, etc.
So, there are probably many other methods available. I would need more info as to type of coins used,
other coin effect you plan on using in a routine, audience setting (angles, proximity, etc), sleight you have mastered
and an understanding of why you want 3 across vs other possibilities for a start. There is no simple answer -
the reason why I have developed some new methods over the years (also hand disabilities that eliminate some).

Kudos on wanting no no gaffs/gimmicks or extra, but ...

write me ken@eversway.com as desired as such things cannot be discussed on open forum.

as a simple answer, the Friction Pass is the easiest.

Yeah, you might check Jeremiah Zuo’s work. You can watch him here do something perhaps more specifically as you ask for above, cleverly over & over again. Tremendously clever worker, and a great guy. 😊

I had forgotten "Put'n'take" as a simple method. I have used it with four coins, but could work with three,
especially on a repeat where the pattern of Performance is established. eMail me as desired.

You can have a 4th coin in right classic palm and 3 at the fingertips and thumb. Do a 3-as-4 Himber-style false count into the left hand and you have your first of four across in your right hand.

Just an fyi, the Benzais Friction Pass was actually created earlier by Marlo, found in Bulls-eye Coin Tricks, 1942

There is a method I recall from long ago that I don't mind sharing here since it is all bluff and guile and doesn't work on video.

Four coin in a purse dumped on the table, open purse gaping in right hand.
Say, "I only need three." Pick up one coin and drop into the purse, actually behind into your hand.
Start picking up the remaining coins with left fingers as you snap the purse closed.
Display the three coins on the left fingers and close hand as you set the purse aside.
Ditch one coin between the buttons of your shirt.
Jingle the coins in your left hand while pointing at it with the casually open right hand (with palmed coin.)
Say, "A bunch of coins is music, the one over there is silent" as you now point to the purse in an easy gesture.
....

you are now one ahead and also set up for a click pass on a later move.
You also have casually show both sides of your "empty" right hand if you are any good at palming (Malini, Ramsey),
but the combined Inference and Implication and Directed Focus is enough.
Everyone "knows" there are three coins in the left hand - and you follow.

Start with 4. Classic palm 1 of a group in R. classic palm. Let others (3) drop to the fingertips and false count them as 4 into the left hand. You are ready for the first "across".

Clink the last coin but retain it. I believe this is the specific move you are looking for.

Jeremiah Zuo - Insights

I got this a few weeks ago and love it!
I am a worker (well, before Covid anyways) and really look forward to the possibilities when things open up.
In particular the Drop clink pass allowing you to do all sorts of devious things, getting ahead.
While a competent worker should be able to grasp in a short time, getting to where Jeremiah will take lots of practice.
But well worth it IMHO....and it is a move that I am actually enjoying working on (something I haven't experienced since working on the Sylvester Pitch).

Hiya Z, Smile

Zuo's work is A#1 alright. He is quite clever, refreshing, and a wonderful presenter. And that Drop Clink move of his is just killer, just real good thinking and amazing to watch. It's well worth the time & effort to learn and perform well. And yes, it presents the same sorta excitement as the Sylvester Pitch, which is still one of the most dynamic moves in coin magic. Smile

Shawn, you'll find lots of excellent performances in this video:
https://youtu.be/nI6dPcldgaw
My preferred method is performed at 8:27.
It's a move attributed to Masao Atsukawa and described in Richard Kaufman's book "Five Times Five Japan".
Not a difficult move, but getting the timing right (and smooth) requires a bit of practice.

Degio, there is a more practical variation of that move in Rubinstein Coin Magic.
