Concerning writing things down......
The magic (science) behind handwriting You are building 16.6 times more new neural pathways when you handwrite your goals, compared to typing them on a computer. That also means that you will get significantly better results when it comes to keeping your goals at the forefront of your mind. You see, It would have been easy to create a strictly electronic piece of software for the law of attraction planners. But it would not have been nearly as effective. Creative ideas take time to emerge. By taking the time to make multiple strokes instead of simply pressing a key, you give your brain more time to process the ideas. One study found that fluid arm movements increased creativity (described as “fluid thought”). It’s certainly possible that the fluid movements of handwriting could have a similar effect. The act of slowing down to write makes you more focused. A 2017 study in the journal Frontiers in Psychology found that brain regions associated with learning are more active when people completed a task by hand, as opposed to on a keyboard. "It appears possible that writing, which is a formalized form of thinking, helps people derive information from their experiences that help them guide their perceptions, actions, thoughts, and emotions in the present... Clarifying purpose and meaning into the future helps improve positive emotion, which is associated with movement towards important goals...." ~ Dr. Jordan Peterson Writing a soothing sentence is a type of "graphotherapy." When you’re feeling sad or stressed, materializing your thoughts by writing in your journal can be a fantastic therapy that will help you overcome your fears and be calmer against every confusing situation. “When we write a letter of the alphabet, we form it component stroke by component stroke, and that process of production involves pathways in the brain that go near or through parts that manage emotion.” ~ Prof. Virginia Berninger So, there it is. |

Which makes me think using an Apple Pencil on an iPad would give me the best of both worlds -- I get the extra neural pathways from writing, but it will also convert it into text for me so I can save, search, tweak it later.
