Years ago I saw a magician perform an amazing effect using his ring. He apparently took it off, and it was all of a sudden back on his finger. Also, I was amazed at Palmer's ring routine's....

I want to learn some of these methods, to use in my own acts...but don't know where to begin. Any advice on this subject?

I've seen Johnny Ace Palmer do it and it was great. I don't know of any others but there may be.

Not quite the same, but Meir Yedid has a little move that Aldo Colombini teaches on his Standing Room Only video.

A ring is shown hanging on your third finger. You push it down and 'pull' it across to show that it has now jumped and appeared on your pinky.

It's a fast, easy 'throw-away' type of thing, but it's rather amusing and a nice filler to begin something else with.
Chet Atkins, Jerry Reed and Tommy Emmanuel are all you need to study to learn to play guitar.

I have seen Johny Ace Palmer do that exact effect more than a dozen times. He is so good at it, I never see the method, even though I know what it is.

I am not sure, but I think he may explain how to do that ring effect on one of his 3 videos. I have them, but I haven't watched them in a couple of months, so I don't remember if that is on there.

Johny is a REALY nice guy, and I am sure if you e-mail him thru his website asking if it is on any of his tapes, he will get back to you and let you know.

Or, if you get a chance to see him lecture, ask him at the lecture if he could teach it. I get the feeling that he probably would.

Garret Thomas does a ring off the finger and then suddenly it is back on. It is called "The Ring Thing" on his "Any Questions" video. I think you would like it. The video has several good tricks as well as some sound advice on magic.

This idea has been around for a very long time. Jay Scott Berry, on his video (Symphony of a Ring and Ribbon), performs this as well.
I never really cared for this effect because so many magicians do it.
Come check out my magic.

Tommy Wonder has a nice routine that partially addresses what you might be looking for. You can find it on "Visions of Wonder" Vol. 1. The effect is called The Ring, The Watch, and The Wallet. It is a nice effect.

Sylvester the Jester also has a similar ring thing on his Sylvester Pitch 98 video.

Chad long has an effect in which a ring becomes invisible. He put the invisible ring on one of his fingers, and then pull it throught the finger to the next one, where the ring become visible again.
I saw it on a french tape entitled "Seminar: chad Long."

Treat it as if it was a coin and you have hundreds of quality effects. Try the old 'coin throug hankerchief' (that really simple one in the kid's books) with a transparant (translucent) silk and a ring. Alter the handling and voila!
