The pasta is the best because you swallow it afterwards and are left with nothing. It sounds better than the cup too.

I know the mechanics of the Arm twisting trick but don't know how to do the setup without people seeing it. What misdirection could one use?

Yeah, its audible alright.
"What's your father's occupation?"
"He's a magician" "What's his favorite trick?" "Sawing people in half." "Gosh! Any brothers or sisters?" "One half brother, and two half sisters" |

I use big pasta because the crunch is very audible and many spectators can her this!

But pasta doesn't have the right sound for cracking bones. I feel plastic cups sound more real.
Don't think too much.
Just hit it. |

You can use your other hand for the cracking sound. I mean like crushing your fingers not exactly crushing; have you seen in some movies the actor somewhat make a cracking sound with his fingers before a fist fight. or you can make a cracking sound by your neck just like your fingers. some boxers and wrestler do it just before fighting. get the idea...

I'm amazed the watch winder hasn't been mentioned.
Hide a watch winder gimmick in your hand. As you turn your other hand, give a series of slow clicks from the watch winder. This looks great. You can also use it in the mensroom. As you zip up your pants make the watch noise, it looks and sounds like you've got an industrial strength zipper. If you don't know what a watch winder is, here is an example http://www.hamptonridge.com/product_pages/watchwinder.html |

If you can click your knuckles, its said to be a bad habit and mainly happens with teenage kids, like me, mainly from the ali g show, then while htye are looking at your arm twisting put your other arm behind you back, and click or crack your knuckles, and I will use the roof of the mouth one if my fingers hurt that day, mmy mate can do those well loud, too bad he werent a magician
