How many lies do you think are acceptable in magic advertising? One? Two? Maybe let them away with three if they're just little lies?

I don't think there should be any lies. What I don't understand is why propdog made the whole trailer when there was only the no equivoque lie. They seem to make issues out of some other parts that I don't believe were problematic.

Kind of agree with that...

Is the claim that they never name the card out loud before the reveal true then?

I do not know how they get away with it or how or why so called big names would want to put themselves in jeopardy by allowing their names on the blurb ? Gaz 😊

Yes. You know the suit and color though. Like with instagrab.

Yes. You know the suit and color though. Like with instagrab.

I thought it was the value and color that is named out loud?

So they say it is a red king, for example, and you think that allows them to claim the card isn't named out loud?

You're joking, right?

Unfortunately, AE and everyone involved overdid it with the trailer. You should almost get the impression that you are getting an "Outstanding by Marc Oberon" in a pen that stays in full view the whole time (which was incredible and implausible from the start, but that is exactly what the lies were obviously aimed at to increase sales) ). That the choice of the card is free and not limited. The Equivoque lie was arguably the most blatant.
Here one was lied in the face to get more sales. The Other Brothers can keep their products in the future.

Finally produce honest trailers with routines from start to finish. The camera can also pan to the viewer if misdirection is an element.
In this case, show that the hands are going to the pocket.

The crisis hit our community particularly hard.
Then don't pull the money out of people's pockets with false promises.

I guess they choose a king for example, you l**d it and in the last moment (while the pen is in view) you ask for the color.

Agree with this. We should not allow so many false promises in the ads, but we speak with our wallets. As far as videos demo, yes, put a helmet cam on a spec to film so we see exactly what they see. I don't need music/edits/movie trailer style demos videos.

Or go even further and don’t even describe the effect at all like Jon Allen has done in his latest offering . Then if you buy it you can have no complaints at all afterwards Gaz 😊

I mentioned this earlier, but there really IS no equivoque in this routine. You're going to wish there was because the way they handle it is much much worse than equivoque.

I guess it's also up to the performer to use the method he/she prefers for the first choice... I think I read somewhere that they mention something along the lines of "a card that represents you"? That really sounds rubbish, if I were told that I probably wouldn't think of what they want...

When I need to use equ*****e I usually tell a story about a poker game in order to guide the spectators; you could here even talk about short-deck poker which is a recent variation that people have started playing (basically you remove the 2s to 5s from the deck) and guide them that way. In any case doing one equ*****e is not a big deal imo, especially if you clearly emphasize that the choices that come after are totally free.
