Not sure this is the right place to post this, as I suspect it would interest a larger community than just the Bizarre Folk. That said, I think it will have particular resonance here.
A performer by the name of Scott Silven has been doing a series of online performances that focuses on story telling and ambiance in a way that caught my attention. I have bought tickets to a performance later this month, and will try to report back here with a bit of review. For those that are interested, I am including a link. Reviews of his work in the New York Times and elsewhere can be readily found oline: "Renowned illusionist, mentalist, and performance artist Scott Silven returns with an all-new, immersive and interactive concept that is astounding audiences and that The Guardian calls, genuinely magical." https://www.tolive.com/thejourney |

Interesting. I saw Scott a few years ago in Edinburgh when he hosted a 3 course dinner where you had your dinner in a room with about 10 other guests while Scott did his stuff. It was thoroughly entertaining and I might take the plunge and watch this. It's quite pricey but I'm sure it will be something quite different.

I joined a bunch of friends and family earlier this week for this show and, although I found it a bit uneven, Silven is doing something worth checking out. Zoom, or Distanced Magic, given the limitations of bandwidth, etc., is invariably a bit wonky, with less than stellar production values, and a certain chunkiness that makes it difficult to cast a spell on an audience the way one could in a small theater or parlor. This is especially true for story-telling magic, where ambiance is so important. Silven overcomes these limitations remarkably well, combining a solid hour of interactive mentalism with good story telling and inventive approaches to his effects. Whatever glitches occur along the way are smoothed over with the help of his charming and engaging demeanor. For the dozen friends and family that joined me for the show (aged 18-80), the reaction was uniformly positive. If you have an interest in what is possible in the realm of Internet magic, this is worth a look.
