Boredom, boor dumb, caused me to see about subscribing to print magazines again.
I noticed a new trick from our cooperate masters. After filling out the subscription form in two instances, about six dollars was added on at the end, why? why shipping and handling of course. One was for a four issue subscription!

My all time favorite was for a free bottle of vitamins that cost $72 for shipping and handling.

Most magazines and newspapers are online now. I only used to buy the Sporting Life anyhow. I used to wake up in the early hours, go to the news depot and get the first copy of the Sporting Life delivered to the city, study the form until it was time to be off to the races. I would come home, have something to eat and go to bed until it was time to wake up and go and the Sporting Life again, etcetera.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

If you read far enough in the application process it turns out that those fees are disclosed.

Yea the irony is if you read just a little bit before you subscribe to a magazine to read there would be nothing to complain about.

I promise you shipping fees were always included since 1956. No company has been sending them for free. It costs to send them and process them. They did not absorb that for you. Maybe the magazine just cost more or whatever but I promise you it was there.

It is not sorbet doing. It just to you 60 plus years to notice it is all.

I like the ones where you win something free for filling out a questionnaire so you could pick your free item and in the small print it says if you do not cancel your subscription that they will start billing your credit card that you used for the shipping and handling. So I don't fill out the questionnaires anymore.

Good magic to all,

Yes, but has anybody had shipping and had handling added to a magazine subscription before ? The publishers must think it's a really cute idea, I've seen two mags from different publishers add it on in the last month. And in both cases it was tacked on (hidden) on the tail end. Several things have surfaced during the pandemic. The biggest is advertising on television for on line gamboling. The casinos( MGM Grand) is offering to pay 100 to one if either team wins (?) or if either team scores a basket or if either fighter lands a punch, that's a punch, not a knockout. WTH ?
