I am hoping to get at least one review of the TCC 4 inch Linking Rings Set.
Please let me know if they are worth buying. Any details about them would be appreciated! |

Thank you ekins! I did see that demo but was hoping to get more details. Maybe I do not need anything else on these.

These are very good closeup rings. One of the best at this price.

Thank you yin_howe. They look good and for that price, I think they should be very satisfying.

How is the finish on them? Is it strong or will they chip, fade or scratch eventually with use?
I am thinking that the silver may be the sturdiest and the matte black the softest. Not sure how they applied the finish to them. |

I would think so, that's why I did not get the matte black.
I've only gotten the Rose, Gold, and grey last year through their Kickstarter. No chipping/fading so far.

So, I received my sets and the you know what is wider on one set than the other. Not cool! One set is easy to use while the other set is not.
Looks like their quality control is lacking. No good reason for the inconsistency. They are selling a whole lot of stuff. Perhaps they do not care about how good/consistent their quality control is. I keep seeing complaints about some of their items here on the Café. Looks like it is hit or miss... |

Anyway, does anyone know where to find really good routines with a 4 inch set of four rings?

Thank you Nat! I found Jay performing his 5 ring routine and I like it. Should work with 4 rings as well. Maybe TCC should have made it a 5 ring set.
I am beginning to question their knowledge of magic. They seem to miss the mark on some of their releases while doing well with others. I am assuming that all involved with the company are young fellas and maybe not as knowledgeable with magic props as they should be. Their drawer box is fantastic! Their tangram puzzle is nice too. Not feeling quite the same way with these rings because of the key ring issue but they are nice and come in 5 different color finishes. Nice seamless rings with a good thickness and not too skinny. Like I mentioned, each set has a key ring with a slightly different size you know what which can be a problem of course. I am trying to carefully correct the problem. It will be interesting to see how the finish holds up. Time will tell... They put a great deal of energy into their videos and promotion but not enough time into making sure that some of their products are just right. Anyway, I have become a TCC customer and intend to remain one but will try to select their releases carefully and hope for the best. |

Thank you yin_howe. I now have two routines to learn from.
Update on the key ring issue... Looks like I managed to correct the situation enough to make it work better. Now I am delighted with the set! These really are nice and have good weight, ring thickness, and after some clanging, finish still looks new. I am thinking that the finish will last. This is my third or fourth set of small Linking Rings over many years (the others were so bad that I never attempted to use them) and these are by far the best set. Great value! |

Are we talking about their $15 set? You get what you pay for. But every linking ring video I've ever seen tells you to adjust your key ring to an appropriate gap to fit your hands and fingers.
Check out the Messado rings tutorial (https://ellusionist.com/products/messado-linking-rings-magic). Note there's a download-only option. It is geared to a 4-ring routine. Daryl has a linking ring video: https://www.penguinmagic.com/p/S14631 Matthew Garrett has a good video but I don't know if you can get it without buying his rings. |

Thanks for those additional routines CardGuyMike!
I was not aware of the adjustment suggestion on videos because I have never watched one but was easier said than done on this sturdy set. Took some doing. I did not want to bend the ring out of circular shape if you know what I mean so I was careful. Yes, these are $15 a set and actually a great deal IMO. I am now thinking that I got more than I paid for with these. Even comes in a really nice carry bag! No instruction links but not a problem. What a difference a day makes! |
