Just purchased an Ousterling Box and have put together a short video comparing it to the M Box….

M Box v Ousterling Box
https://youtu.be/DkPcszZ7bEs

I’ve bought both so got no affiliation either way. Hope you find it useful.

Very nice, thanks for the comparison/review.
For future readers, it's worth noting that this is back to the original M Box, rather than the vs 2.0 that's also been discussed in the thread.

I ran across this thread last week. I went for my Okito box and couldn't find it. After reading some other threads I checked out Tom Ladshaw Magic. I just want to say his prices are great. Great communication (I placed my order during a snowstorm he was getting). He let me know when he could get out to ship the order. He is a really nice guy. Also I really like the M Box.
Still lurking after all these years.

The shift in this thread from discussing the original M-Box (the initial topic) to the discussion of the 2.0 version is subtle and easy to miss (as I did at first).
It's a very important detail, that I wanted to highlight, since the purposes of the two boxes are extremely different. Some of the other boxes listed on AliExpress in a 2.0 version seem to just be a black coated inside, and perhaps coming with a set of coins, which is a small improvement. But the change to the M-Box for the 2.0 is, in my mind, revolutionary.

It allows you to use the one box as either an Okito or Boston box in a way similar to the Opongo box, but far better. Not only can you use any coin of your choice (with the correct extra they you probably already have), you're able to switch between the type of box secretly and quickly without any magnets or sticky stuff, which can't be said of any other switchable box I know of.
It's also highly examinable, unlike a traditional Boston box (let alone the Opongo), which is like icing on the cake.
While a close look from a coin magician might give away the secret, any other spectator would at most have a small amount of confusion (more likely is to not notice anything) from a detail, but since they're unfamiliar with other tools, they're unlikely to realize the method. To me, that just adds to how great this box really is, if

If that wasn't good enough, I discovered that they also have a plug box (which I just received) ... but built with the same dual-use capability. Just take a moment to imagine how amazing that is. A plug box that doubles as a Boston box, and can be handed out, since there's no (obvious) recess for a coin! The plug is a little bit pricey (about the same price as the M-Box 2.0), but it just feels so much better than the traditional solid cylinder because of the added versatility. Heck, you could do a whole routine of coins in/out of the box and finally turning it into a solid box ... without needing to do a box switch. Crazy!

I can't recommend these highly enough, even though I'd almost rather keep it a secret.

Does the regular solid box fit inside the 2.0? there seems to be one version for 40 and another for 80?

No, it's not meant as a large-object reveal (like an orange), it's meant to make the box itself impossible.
T the solid box is the same size as the regular boxes, just like the solid box from most manufacturers. (It's also not a sucker box, which typically has a smaller opening, but is still the same size).
It's sized so that the same lid would fit over either box, though the solid box does not come with an extra lid, which I do wish was possible to buy separately.
It's also worth pointing out that the 1.0 and 2.0 versions are the same size, and the lids are interchangeable.
Actually, I don't have it in front of me right now, so I'm only 95% sure that, but I'm pretty confident in it from memory.

There's a small chance that the half-dollar solid box would fit inside the dollar-sized 2.0/1.0, but I (a) wouldn't assume that, (b) can't try since I don't have both sets and don't plan on buying it, and (c) would be pretty surprised, since I think the depths are wrong, and (d) it would defeat the purpose of the mechanism of the solid box to use a half-dollar sized coin while using the dollar box.

I don't understand this question. Are you still asking about the solid box, or the M-Box? Links to what you're referring to would be very helpful.

I only see the solid box offered for ~$40-50.
The original M-Box is typically about $30-40
The M-Box 2.0 is $50-60.

Perhaps different sellers have other prices, especially depending on where they're located or if they're a reseller.
But each one of those three is labeled differently, and in particular I'm guessing the $40 one you're looking at is the 1.0 and the $80 is the 2.0, but that should be clearly marked from the product image/description.
I've not seen two different versions of a solid box (either previously or looking again now) for widely different prices. More information would be useful.

Apologies TOQ, Aliepress has two prices for the half dollar. I contacted the stores but have not heard back. I'm just wondering which solid box the 2.0 owners purchased? The prices are quite different.I assumed the more expensive one was the 2.0 but can't see that written anywhere?

Again, I think you are mixing things up.

There is an M-Box (original).
There is an M-Box 2.0.
There is a Solid Box.

The solid box uses a similar feature to the M-Box 2.0, but there is only one solid box; there's no "not-2.0" version, and the solid box doesn't say 2.0 at all.
"Which solid box did you buy" isn't a thing that makes sense if there's no choice to make, other than the "coin" size.

Multiple prices for the half dollar m-box (original or 2.0) are because sometimes they offer with some extras - a gimmick, normal coin, etc. They're nice if you want them, but aren't required, and I haven't see any of the solid boxes offered with them, only the other boxes.

So again, if you're saying that AliExpress has two prices for the half dollar (what?), it would really help to have a link to reference so I can see specifically what products you're referring to.

I received my M Box 2.0 today and as has been previously mentioned the quality is fantastic. However, the video link I was sent doesn't play and when I contacted the seller they sent me a random Okito box video.

Is it possible for someone able to PM me to help me know how this works? I can supply photos to prove I actually have this. Even some clues on what I should be looking for? I am new to coin magic, but I can't see how this is different, part of its ingenuity I suppose.
Thank you!

I sent a PM to discuss the box that was received. I feel like that starts to go to exposure.

Hi all,

i've just discovered the M-BOX from TCC Magic ...

I'm the only one thinking that's a copy of my work ????

first at all, I've created the MKS Boston-S in 2017, allowing to hide shell under the box, with a special design allowing to show the bad side..
https://magikoins.com/en/categorie-produ......on-s-en/

And the external lateral groove allowing an easier reversal of any of my okito box since 2009 ??

really strange... nope ?

Hi magikoins!
I confess this is the first time I'm seeing those products of yours. I had no idea you'd made them, but I absolutely believe that you came up with them before Jimmy.
I can't say if it was independent invention or a copy, but I'd think they should at least reference your work in some way - which they do not.

If I'd realized I might not have bought it from them.

As far as the lateral groove, I've also seen that one on boxes for many years (Craig Ousterling has it, too, and the one on the M-Box is more pattern than deep to get a grip, as yours seems to be). But the resemblance is still high.

Pretty disappointing, but not too surprising. You should reach out to them and see what they say. Let us know what you find out!

Hi Toq,

First of all, thank you for your message.

Since 2009, all the okito boxes that I make have a lateral groove allowing easier turning by "pushing" the lid, no need to use your fingers to turn the box.

Regarding the Boston-S, I invented and created this box in 2017. The bottom of the box has a groove and a particular design allowing it to accommodate a shell, and not a coin. This also makes it possible to show the box from all angles, and even to give it to the examination.

When I see the M-BOX, I just feel like my ideas have been copied without agreement.

Few hours ago, I 've contacted TCC and wait their feedback on this, and also kickstarter to inform them that my products were being copied thru their plaform.

I will post any information regarding this story as soon as possible.

thank you for your support.

Hi Magikoins,

Absolutely. I realize you're saying you've been making them for a long time, and I believe you. I'd just never seen it before, and wish I had. Assuming it's roughly the same, it's a brilliant design!
It does certainly seem like it's very similar, but without knowing Jimmy's side, I can't say. It could have been developed independently. But it could likewise be that it was copied.

Good luck!
