Hi guys, I hope everyone is well here in the green place. I just wanted to stop in and tell you about my new effect that just went LIVE on Kickstarter today:
What would a machine that could put ideas directly into your mind *feel* like? What would it look like if you had an impossible tool that could let you know EVERYTHING about a given situation? If you had a secret industry contact who you’d worked with to create a truly impossible moment, who would you share that secret with? And how would they react? That’s the vibe behind my incredible new trick, which is live on Kickstarter right now: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/phi......ng-cards It’s a fascinating hook, and the trick that hangs off it is weird, deceptive, surprising and EASY! The Neural Miracle deck of cards took a long time to develop, all in service of making the effect simple to perform, but layered and structured so that audiences have the rug pulled out from under them bit by bit. The deck was SO complicated to develop, it made my ELITES look simple, but actually using it is really easy. I'm really excited that it's FINALLY getting out there, it's been in development for SO LONG, and I just checked on the KS and it's already got a SUPER apt 52 backers after about 6 hours - we're nearly half way to the nut, I think we'll make it. I hope you are having an awesome week - keep yourself safe <3 Phill

Would this still work if you decided you didn't want the wristband visible (wore it under a sleeve)?

It's mostly just a presentational idea until the last part and I don't think the last part makes sense without the wristband in view. If you wanted to do this without the wristband, just use any stacked marked deck and you can do something that's essentially the same. |

This reminds me a lot of Luke Jermay's Marksman deck with an added NFC wristband - can I ask what the differences are?

The deck shares some DNA with decks like the Marksman's deck, all the way back to Deland's original all-singing-all-dancing decks of a hundred years ago. The difference is the look of the deck, the narrative of the theme, the construction of the presentation, the content of the system, the way the marking system is designed and implemented to be as fast and easy to use as possible, plus the final revelation using the NFC wristband. I feel like all of those details combine together to add something that makes it worth trying, I had a lot of fun with it.
To answer John7s question about the wristband, the band is just a presentational gambit, and it doesn't actually send any information directly to your brain. You don't need to use it at all, but if you did have it under your sleeve out of sight, it would 100% still work. In fact, you can quite easily reprogram it to do any revelation you want. You can of course use any stacked marked deck to do something similar (like the incredible DMC ELITES V5 for example 😉 ) - the benefit of the complex work I've done in development is that you don't need to do deep learning to do it. Calling any card in any of the top 12 positions, locating any Ace, finding pairs, knowing the card you can spell to from any cut position, with zero maths, memory, or working out - these things are advanced techniques for memdeck workers (that super impress me), but this deck makes them easy. You could do any of these with a couple of minutes practice, and probably much faster than almost any memdeck expert, and it is all built around this zeitgeisty hook of the neural interface. I'm well aware that a lot of my stuff is kind of marmite - you'll know if it resonates with you or not and I'm 100% happy with that. Phill

Just a quick update - there's 7 days left on this and I've added a bunch of add-ons, a few of which have come about from conversations I've had with other wizards who were already brainstorming their own presentations and handling - one person suggested that they were going to make up an invisible deck with the NM playing cards so the punter can have the experience of wearing the neural interface and *somehow* knowing which card is reversed in the deck. Someone else suggested that they are going to have a blindfold to prove that the deck isn't marked. Naturally since these are both great ideas I've tried to incorporate them and add them to the project via add-ons. I'm really excited to see this come to fruition now, we have shot past 100% so it's definitely going to happen - exciting times!

Last update on this really, there is less than a day left, and we hit the stretchgoal to make the website for the fake company that makes the interface - it's all coming together and I think the project is in great shape. Many thanks to everyone who came on board or had questions - if you never did : this is the last chance to not miss out!

Hey Phill - I did end up adjusting my pledge for an add-on, and seem to remember you'd be keeping track of that on a different platform and that we'd get an email? I don't think I got one yet, and just making sure I didn't miss anything.

Hi Nathan, I'm using a 3rd party website called Backerkit to handle that part of the project, it should make everything a bit more streamlined - once the project reaches 0 hours I'll sort all that out and then shortly after you should get an email. Thanks for coming on board, and apologies to everyone who has had issues with the add-ons because they are kind of arcane how they work in Kickstarter.

Hi all, just a quick update, the KS finished yesterday and we obviously went past 100% so it's all definitely happening - I'm currently talking to the printers and locking the artwork in, so it shouldn't take too long to get it all done. The Backerkit survey will go out in about 2 weeks (which I've been told is the optimum time) so that's the next thing to happen. I have put an update on the Kickstarter page that is the first of several posts that explains how the deck actually works (only visible to backers of course), and I *think* we should be good for shipping on the stated date, but I'll post updates on KS as I get more details about that.

Dang it Phil, I wish I had been around and known about this - I would have 100% supported you. Looks good - may well pick one up after Christmas.
