Looking to get in to restaurant work. Looking for suggestions for routines and sets needed to be successful.

I use mainly cards, coins, sponge balls, Chop Cup, Rope and finger ring and string. They are all easy to carry and require no set up.

Those are practical matters having to do with the way I work. Short sleeves, no coat, no bag or mat. Your conditions may be different.

What can you confidently do right now? You don't need a lot of tricks. Personality is more important than tricks.

Louis,
Just curious. Do you know, other than asking about routines and sets, what it takes to even get a restaurant gig and to keep that gig? Why would a restaurant want to talk to you let alone hire you?
I've worked restaurants weekly for 18 years until March 16th of 2020. (Virus)

To answer your question though, Magic Mike just about covered it especially his last comment.
Good luck to you.

Of the thi9ngs I mentioned, sponge balls are the biggest bang for the buck. Not at all exciting for us but dynamite for the guests. Learn a good sponge ball routine that requires no setup and with a ball going into the guests hand or ends with a bunch of sponge balls. This will work with kids and adults and will get the screams that make other guests want to know what is going on.

Add a deck of cards and make sure you know some tricks that require no setup and you are ready to go. Don't use tricks that require dealing or counting. Partly because they can be boring and partly because they take table space.

A good rope routine like Fiber Optics will play for any age and works for small groups or large groups. Being able to entertain a large table in a restaurant is a must and Fiber Optics does this and takes up very little pocket space.
