Every time you do a signed card trick such as ambitious card, you destroy a card. That's why I like the idea of this as it screams the deck is not special.

I've bought a few things from Eddie's site in the past and have been happy with everything.
I don't care what the website looks like, do the items look and work good. Yes, they certainly do. I've ordered the peek device, and look forward to Eddie's attention to detail and craftmanship. Dave |

Ah jeez, give the guy a break!
He’s come on here full of passion sharing his work and something he 100 percent believes in. If you don’t like his sales pitch don’t buy it! I agree Eddie does need to show a performance / vídeos / photos using his peek if he wants to win people over. Saying it’s the best thing ever isn’t enough... but all the personal insults are ridiculous and posting his personal Showreel in an attempt to undermine him is appalling behaviour. There is NOTHING wrong with getting spectators to write things down on cards AT ALL, especially if you’ve been getting them to sign cards all night, tearing them up, having them folded up appearing fruit etc. They make perfect souvenirs. If you perform with cards and are comfortable with having them marked then this is totally normal behaviour! God... some if you ‘high and mighty mentalists’ seriously think way too much about everything. Congrats on producing a product you love and use Eddie. Look forward to seeing a perfomance of it which is definitely needed when selling something to the magic community.

I see absolutely nothing wrong with casually writing a name or information on a playing card as proof of what the spectator was thinking about. Even though I have an idea as to the methodology of the peek, I ordered it from Eddieraymond.com. I'm sure it will be an innocent and effective peek to add to my other peeks using a stack of business cards and wallets. IT is good to have different peeks for different situations.

If you ask people to write down a thought on a playing card and then have that card inserted into the deck (if that is what this is?) then you are simply advertising that you are performing a magic trick.
This may make sense for magicians dabbling in mental magic. It makes no sense as a piece of Mentalism. |

Signing a playing card yes, using the back for recording names, or numbers relating to certain tricks yes. Using a playing card for recording any other kind of information, no, as it seems so not organic to me.

Just received this. Super, super clever! Simple. Elegant. I must disagree with those who feel using playing cards to 'record' information is not organic. I have waaay too many peek wallets, though my SAW remains my favorite. That being said, this is something that I will definitely use.

Based on Rosariorose's review (whom I fully trust ), I finally took the plunge.
My son just now ordered this for me.

I'm curious how anyone would ever use this prop. Are you really going to pull out a deck of cards that you haven't been using in order to do a peek of a word? Or are you going to do a deck switch? In what situation would it ever make sense to use this?

I'd use it Joe in a casino/gambling BJ routine. Have a card chosen,
have them write any casino in any city in the world on the face, reveal what cards you see the dealer giving them (if they chose a 5 for example, the dealer gave them a 9+7 so their lucky card would be a 5 to make BJ 21) then of course start describing land marks in the city they have written before finally the city. You could adapt it to a poker hand, the card they needed for a winning hand etc. Just a fun mental magic routine that they get to keep their lucky card as a souvenir perhaps. |

I might have misunderstood but the review that was posted made it seem like you couldn't use the deck for anything. Meaning to do that routine you'd have to do a deck switch.

I don't have it so those who have would have to answer that mate.
I'm not a big fan of having to switch a deck, it would have to be something very special as in a major effect which I don't see this being. To be honest, I can already do the routine I described without a deck switch. I guess I'll have to wait for a review from one of the buyers. Ustaad is very creative so look forward to what he has to say |

I would say that the majority of layman associate playing cards with a magical performer, magician/mentalist. For the guy that doesn't even use cards in his act, this deck would be taken out as an afterthought. Example: " Folks, I'm working on a routine (your spiel) - now, so there's no confusion, just jot that thought down....on"... Pat your pocekts, search briefly,"excuse me sir, do you have a piece of paper and pen? Of course you don't...wait, let's write it on this card. It's OK, I'm not playing with a full deck In the other scenario, the deck would be extremely easy to switch out becasue there is zero heat on the exchange. Maybe you just finished an ambitiuous routine. Simply put the deck away and move on to something else, casually pull the other deck out when you need it for the peek routine and there should be no suspicion at all. Or you can put the regular deck away and immediately pull out the peek deck as you remember you wanted to do one more effect. Again the next effect isn't even a card trick, so there should be no suspicion. Either way, it really does require very little management, and there are so many ways to use this. |

You can switch decks, or you can set the deck down and produce a wallet. I can certainly see how the former may be preferred by some over the latter.

I bought this and think it is an excellent tool to have in the arsenal!
This is a very clever, well-made and super easy to use device, and I'm really glad I own one! The peek is so easy to get, and you can re-peek multiple times if you need to. If you perform any effects with playing cards, or do cartomancy readings, this device is natural and fits right in. If you don't do cartomancy readings, now might be a good time to learn, as it is one of the easier oracles or systems to learn. Most of the great, well-known mind readers of our time use/used playing cards in their act. Three of the five effects in Mental Miracles With Bob Cassidy used playing cards (Chronologue, Psychomatic Deck and Card Memory). Osterlind, Banachek, Karmilovich and other famous mentalists all perform effects with playing cards, so they really are a well-established part of modern mentalism. There's nothing "propy" about this device. It looks exactly like what it is: a deck of cards, which is exactly what I want. Well done, Eddie Raymond! . |

The thought of using this with cartomancy readings though is great Bill.

I don’t see myself using this in a mentalism setting. I would not let a participant write something down on a card. There is just no routine that I can think of that would would make that option better than using a billet/business card. Using cards that way would really not fit my style of mentalism. I don’t do cartomancy and in that respect I have a question for you, Bill. Does writing soemthing on a card fit in a cartomancy setting? Or do you mean you use this just to peek the card, without writing on it?

I honestly have no specific plans for it I’m just an addict at this point.
97% of the time I go back to much simpler methods anyway but I can’t resist sometimes. provocative price range as well

In the DVD “13”, Rudy Hunter offers a routine where the subject writes a question on the face of a playing card, then peeks the question. Although Rudy’s handling uses an ungimmicked deck, which is also pretty cool. Rudy’s effect is called “card reading”. . |
