For YEARS, Color Vision was a go-to, a staple for me. I had the old Adams version that had a blue plastic box with a wood cube and painted color circles. Still wish I had it, haha. No one ever guessed the method, and I mean no one. You could tell from the confused looks on their faces as they examined the prop that they weren't being polite, haha.
I love the 'old, cheap tricks' that have been given fresh life with quality materials. Color Vision is one. Baby Jade Rings (I love jade, anyway), etc... Go to my recent topic to see a pic of what I did on a set of Buddha Mystery Papers Anyway, I just received a Mikame Craft Color Vision and thought I would post my thoughts. There isn't a great deal to say, as there is no gimmickery, but I will make some observations: - the quality of the box is very good, and it is nicely put together. No mis-aligned joints, etc... - the cube itself seems to be made of some other material, perhaps resin. It is lightly textured and black in color. It does use stickers for the colors, but they are just barely inset within the cube, which looks better than what I would imagine the alternative would be. I would prefer inset and painted spots, but these are fine. There is a very slight bit of white backing showing at the very edge of the blue spot. Not a big deal, but not Mikame standards, either. - the box without lid is 1 and 7/8 inches square. The inside wall to inside wall of the box is 1 and 5/8 inches. Height with the lid is 2 and 1/8 inches. - this prop is VERY noisy. Just moving it around normally, the box and cube combine to make a good bit of noise - and it is not because the box is too big for the cube. This was pretty surprising! Fortunately, this was easily fixed with a sheet of dark brown felt that I got at a craft store for 50 cents. Cut pieces to fit into the lid and the bottom (floor) of the box. The felt made a HUGE difference. - you get 2 typewritten pages (front and back) of instructions, providing 3 different ways of presenting it. There were also 2-3 subtleties that I had completely forgotten about. Is it worth the $60? For me, it was just at the border of the price vs. value ratio. I paid it. Honestly, I think it should be priced just a little lower, but there are other factors that could be involved (it is Mikame, it is imported from Japan...). Here are some pictures:

Thank you for your review. I also ordered the new Mikame Color Vision because the Adams version was one of the first effects I acquired when I was a budding magician. I agree completely with your review. The proper price point for this is about $45. I purchased mine using a 15% off coupon one magic retailer was offering which knocked it down to $51, close enough.
Thank you for the tip on using felt to tame some of the noise. Mark

Nice job on the felt addition, looks good.
I think Mikame would have had the felt in the first place though. |

Shot of my Mikame original, looks pretty close. main difference is the spots. On the newer one it is decals and the original used pressure fitted plastic circles. However they were prone to popping off so the decals my be a better option.

Well, look what I found! I thought I had perhaps sold it a couple of years ago, but I was organizing my stuff last night and voila!
Probably purchased in the late 60's or early 70's. So glad to find it was still with me Love the wooden cube!

Most of the newer plastic models use printed card stock folded into a cube. Must save them a ton of money in manufacturing costs.
