Hope I'm in the right forum for this - I saw a card back that I would like to get a full deck of, but have no idea of the name of the deck, so hoping someone here will know. Here's the pic. Thanks in advance!

My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

Interesting cards. They are obviously one-way backs, but there is also an interesting detail in that one corner has a completely different design in the corner. I can't tell on my computer, but are the "people" in the three corners something akin to mermaids? It appears they have arms, but tails instead of feet.

Is there anything else you can elaborate on that might help give us something to go on? I haven't seen that back before. I wonder if you could try sending a pic of it to Conjuring Arts and playingcarddecks.com for their assistance. Perhaps they might recognize them.

I've only seen them online.

You're suggestion of sending a pic to CA or playingcarddecks is an idea I should have thought of, myself! Thank you Smile

Both PlayingCardDecks.com and the great VJose32 kindly replied to me, and neither could ID the deck. Seems like I've got a mystery on my hands!

Bummer. You might try Bill Kalush at Conjuring Arts. Lee Asher would be another one, and of course Endersgame who frequents this forum is very up-to-date on cards so he might be able to help.

What is it you like about them? Would a similar design appeal to you? Similar but different?

Thanks, Tortuga. I decided to go to the source, haha. The photo I took was from a Paul Gordon trick 'trailer' on his website. For some reason it seemed awkward to ask him "Hey, what is this deck that you use?" so I tried some other sources. However, after a friend who knows cards as well as being an acquaintance of Paul's referred me to...Paul, I've message him via his site. I recently purchased his upcoming "Twin Peeks" deck, so I feel better approaching him as an active customer Smile

I'll definitely keep the resources you mentioned in mind, though, and thank you so much!

Awesome! Paul is a good guy and I'm sure he'll be happy to help.

Have you tried posting this on the Playing Cards subreddit?

https://www.reddit.com/r/playingcards

There's a lot of enthusiastic collectors and knowledgeable playing card enthusiasts that might be able to help.

Another source you could try is contacting someone involved with the 52 Plus Joker Club, such as Lee Asher or Don Boyer, who are both incredibly knowledgeable.

Sorry, should have reported back, but neglected to. I actually contacted Paul Gordon, who replied that this was a very old (VERY old) back design that he'd had reprinted. So, it isn't a deck that is commercially available, one will most likely only find it in effects that PG markets.

Thanks for circling back! Too often we're left wondering. Making your own decks has never been easier nor as cost-efficient than right now. Perhaps you could take that pattern and tweak it a bit and then have your own cards printed using that back. Endersgame has written extensively on options to do just that.

I love it when people create their own custom deck. There are some very high quality ones that have been produced with the help of crowdfunding. But it's also quite easy to produce just a handful of copies of your own deck with the help of a company like Shuffled Ink.

This is exactly what our family did, printing a custom deck we called Amberthyst, as part of a collaboration with a cardist. I wrote up a review describing the process, and we were very pleased with the results.

I've also written up a Complete Guide to Printing Your Own Custom Deck which covers all the essentials you need to know about this.
