I learned about "Secret Servante" by Sean Goodman about a month ago, and decided I would see how I would like it. The few retrieving/ditching devices I've purchased in the past did not work well for me, and adding something to my attire is usually a big red flag.
I received Sean's creation in the mail the other day, and I must say that despite my reservations, it exceeded my expectations in every way. This is just a great little device that works really well. I wanted something that could work with just a shirt - even a t-shirt. But when it comes to trying to find a way to make things that are made with jackets in mind work for shirts or t-shirts, the won/loss record isn't very good (in my experience). But again, the reviews people were giving drew me in. I'm glad they did! The device is 4" by 1.5". It is also *very* light. "Installation" is a piece of cake. Using a t-shirt I found to be no problem at all, but if you're going to wear a light t-shirt, loading the device with 3 silver dollars will cause a little pull due to the weight. Adjusting the device a little farther back on the hip (your 3-4 o'clock) will keep specs in front of you from noticing anything. Wearing this with just a shirt, there will be something very small that can be seen, but will very likely go unnoticed. And even if it is noticed I'm not sure it would arouse much suspicion. These little somethings are very easy to obtain, and I thought about picking up 2 more, and painting them white, black and blue (most common colors of my shirts). There are other excellent solutions in the instructions provided by Sean that eliminate *anything* being seen. I have to say, this is a rare case where this subject doesn't make me heave a defeated sigh What a wonderful way to get into, for example, "Daryl's 3 Fly III" and be able to freely and openly show 3 coins in your very clean hands, then doing the necessary quickly, easily and subtly, whenever you like. The 'move' necessary to retrieve your item is effortless. This was one of those purchases where, when I opened the box I thought "I think I'm going to like this," and that feeling only increased as I went through the tutorial. Sean also provided (I ordered directly from Sean, btw) a video with live performances and explanations along with a pdf. Very highly recommended. https://www.simplymagic.co.uk/secretservante.html

Thanks for the review Chessman.
I purchased this item from Sean a couple years ago and it has sat in my drawer since that time. I think I am guilty of not really giving it enough thought and determined too quickly that it wouldn’t suit my clothing style. But reading your thoughts has caused me to rethink this, so I am going to dig it out and give it a fair shot. Oh, oh, wait, now I’m trying to remember if I may have sold it last year??? Well, regardless, you’ve inspired me to look for it and see, and if I have it I’ll see if I can get some use out of it. |

Haha, thanks - hope you still have it!
After going through the instructions, I was already wearing a medium-weight t-shirt and said, "Welp, here goes!" Personally, I was really pleasantly surprised.

I bought this last year from someone selling it on the Café. Videoman, perhaps I bought yours? It's also been sitting in my drawer because I haven't been doing much of anything lately, but perhaps I'll play around with it some more. I do remember it being clever.

Thank you for the kind comments. SS is my baby, and I use it all the time. It was born out of necessity - I wanted to be able to switch in and switch out a copper silver coin in a routine, and couldn’t find anything out there to do this so started playing! The first prototypes where made up from carved up Pringle lids, cello tape and playing cards!!! A good buddy of mine Lee Smith commented, only a weird magician could come up with something like this!!! LOL.
Anyway, when I shared my first one with Nick Einhorn, he went crazy! In a good way.... He loved it, and showed it to guys at the Magic Circle. Jon Allen then suggested making it bigger, as the original only held half dollar coins so I did, which was a great piece of advice. So it can now hold dollar coins too. Nick took it to Blackpool in 2016 and 200 units sold out in the first day! I went on David Penn’s WMS too, and then Murphys and Penguin also took it onboard. Nick kindly suggested that it could become a universally acknowledged magical accessory like the thumb tip in years to come.... that would indeed be fantastic, and I have been supplying Murphys steadily since it’s launch in 2015 so who knows LOL!!! Thanks again for the kind words - when you share something that you’ve put your heart and soul into, it’s lovely to receive such positive comments. Take care - Sean

Keep an eye out for my latest release called DUO, which will be coming out soon via Saturn Magic. You can certainly use SS with this too, and the instructions for DUO also include one routine which uses SS.

Just wanted to add my thanks to Sean for his excellent customer service.
I was recently in touch with Sean regarding my pair of Secret Servantes, that I purchased when they were first made available. After a long period of use in suit jackets, I stopped wearing them due to moving to hotter climes, but have now seen the error of my ways! The Secret Servante is one of the most useful utility items for any coin worker and can elevate or simplify many routines, I can't believe it took me so long to revisit them. In summary, this is a great no-nonsense solution to stealing, ditching and generally cleaning up many routines, from a guy that will be there to support you! Thanks again Sean, Alan |

No need to vanish the ring, and then quickly reproduce it elsewhere. Likewise with a MCF for a card, you can ditch it and then make it reappear much later. Have fun!

This is amazing! I have not even looked at the directions and I am using this! Pretty easy to figure out. I will eventually go there, but right now I am just marveling at its ingenious working! Tip in, tip out. I NEVER would have thought of this in a million years! Ha ha! I am a HOLD-OUT kinda guy, too! Brilliant!
