Incredible that David Williamson is not mentioned once! Incredible...

For metal bending, the hands-down best DVD's I've yet seen are Banachek's excellent "Psychokinetic Silverware" and Patrik Kuffs' Metal Bending: The Real Work" DVD, the latter of which I coincidentally just watched last night so my impressions of it are still quite fresh in my mind.
Regarding Kuffs' DVD, on the back of the DVD was a mention that an assistant with a better command of English would be assisting Patrik on the video and, after having read this, I was a bit concerned that some of Patrik's own verbal descriptions on the DVD might be somewhat hard to decipher. However, while watching the video it wasn't long before I remember thinking, "Kuffs' explanations are so good that even if I turned the sound off completely I'd still easily understand everything he's trying to convey." Moreover, I had absolutely no trouble understanding his (enjoyably, to me) French-Canadian-inflected English in any case. Kuffs' DVD is about two hours long and, in my opinion, along with Banachek's "Psychokinetic Silverware" might be be considered to be the two "standards" in metal bending videos that should be consulted by all newcomers to the effect.
"A good mentalist ... will teach you a miracle because he understands the subtleties ..." -- Banachek
"If this works it'll be BEAUTIFUL!" - The Amazing Kreskin on a stunning effect he performed on his 1970s television series (PS: it worked) |

To clarify something I wrote in the first sentence of the last paragraph above, I should have more clearly written,
>However, while watching the video it wasn't long before I remember thinking, "Kuffs' *VISUAL* explanations are so good that even if I turned the sound off completely I'd still easily understand everything he's trying to convey." <

In no order, some of my avorite DVDs are
On The Loose-Bill Malone Scott Alexander DVDs In The Trenches-Paul Green Honorable Mention: Hit The ROad I chose these DVDs for a number of reasons ,the first being that all of these DVDs have time-tested, commercial routines. Another is that that though I can think of some other DVDs with flashier routines, the explanations on these flashy DVDs were very bad, with no thought put into them. I am sure quite a few of you were surprised I put Hit the Road on my list. This was because in my opnion this is a great DVD not only because of the effects, but because of the atmosphere. The whole DVD is like being at a late night session with to pros. The material is great, and the atmosphere is fun. Just my two cents, Jonathan |
