Hi guys!

Here's a tip for those of you who bought the deluxe set with the leather purse. If you pull on that zipper enough times it's going to break. So here's what I did. I took a candle, and I rubbed the wax all over the zipper. Opened and closed it a few times. With the purse open, I rubbed the candle around the inside. Open and close again.

Now it's like buttah! It will extend the life of the purse. It's too nice to allow it to break!

Mine was a little tight. I used a dab of WD 40, now it works very smoothly.

What do you use "Teddy" for? I use it for the 5th coin. Coin #4 vanishes and appears in the purse.

Kyle over at Vanishinginc writes a nice review for the deluxe version of MIGRATE. I agree with everything except for not using the leather purse that comes with the routine. The purses (whether the leather one provided or the cloth purse that comes with the poker chip version), are unique and charming, and add to the routine. But of course any purse can be used, and you don't need the FPS wallet to hide an extra coin, as all the coins start in the purse in the routine I teach. MIGRATE is found at all dealers, and is the perfect routine to open your act, whether for walk around, or a full show! Here is the review. Thanks Kyle!

"A pretty decent little routine. I have the Deluxe version, because ... coins 0_o.
The Coins.
The coins themselves are pretty beautiful. They have a decent weight to them, the diameter of a half-dollar, but as thick as a dollar coin. Decently soft, with a decent mill.

The leather Bear coin pouch:
A pretty nifty little pouch, but it's pretty big and bulky. So carrying it can get annoying at times, you could get away with using the traveler coin wallet. Or even the FPS Coin Wallet. Both have gaffs that allow the hiding of another coin, which is beneficial for this routine. I get the reason for the bear pouch, but again. ... pocket space. Unless you clip it to something. Also, it's a good idea to put material in the bear head to keep the coins from rattling around too much. Since it's a large cavity with 5 coins sitting in it.

Last but not least is the routine.
The routine itself is pretty simple in handling. Which is fantastic. A very well structured 4 coins across. The script is pretty funny to a degree. In the performance Doc, over-emphasizes the bear puns, which is fine for him, but for me, it comes off as the uncle trying to be funny. If that makes sense. So for me when I perform it, I perform it kind of conversational, with a slight lecture tone I let the audience catch any of the bear puns.

All in all, pretty moderate to learn, a nice un-gimmicked coin routine, nice coins, decently funny script and premise.

ALSO--- For those who are interested in using the FPS as a replacement wallet, display the coin wallet at the fingertips, As you go to open the coin wallet, read just the wallet between your thumb and index finger wrapped around it. This is so that you can squeeze the wallet, allowing for the coin to be deposited into your hand.
This keeps the entire thing contained in itself, and no need to have an extra coin free floating in a pocket."

One of my friends uses a great line with the coin version. When the coins are examined, he points out the bear on one side, and the crouching prospector who is hiding from the bear on the other side! Great idea, and a conversation starter that can bring you right into the routine! A lot of folks are also having fun with the Switch and Ditch move, which is such a useful move, and can be inserted into any three fly type routine as well!

I found these reviews over at Penguin's website. They only have the deluxe coin version (also at most dealers), but only through myself or at mymagic.com can you get the poker chip version.

"Leaving a review for both versions, as I purchased both (I liked both sets of props, and am a bit of a completionist at heart).

First, the props: The quality of either version is top notch. For the deluxe set, I love the leather coin pouch. The replica halves are VERY nice as well, though I was a bit surprised to find them ever so slightly thicker than a Kennedy half. It is a very tiny thing, and as I don't have an original California half to compare it to, not sure if that is how the originals were or not. In either case, if you are comfortable with a normal half, or an English penny, then these will handle perfectly. On the normal version, the poker chips are nice, beautiful stickers and handle nicely. The soft coin purse I think would travel in the pocket easier, as the leather purse is stiff and formed, and could easily be crushed in a pocket. I would still not hesitate to carry either one with me daily.

As for the instruction: VERY much worth it! Both versions come with a typed sheet that is essentially the "script" for the presentation as performed by Dr. Rubinstein. The video is even more amazing. Very clear, multiple angles, and the assorted "Migrations" he teaches are worth the price alone.

While I don't actually see myself performing this with the patter - although I have at least one group of friends for whom the 'punishingly' high number of puns would be perfect for - it is a lovely coins across routine, and I would think that just about everyone will find at least SOMETHING of value to add to their own routine. Or use the great Migration patter as a nice change of pace.

I strongly suggest folks pick this up. To be honest, my first exposure to Dr. Rubinstein's work was his Penn and Teller appearance, and I didn't care for the style. After deciding the props for this were too cute not to pick up, the teaching and video that came with this have made me a fan, and convinced me to purchase his book as well. I don't think I can offer a stronger endorsement than that!"
