Many years ago I owned a nice visual card effect.
My grandson used to love it. Can anyone recall what it might be called please? props: 6 larger than normal cards (with 2 holes drilled into each card) tapered wand, approx 6inch in length effect: the cards are shown face down, and any card was freely chosen. The cards were then placed back together, and the wand passed through the top hole. Now all the cards are threaded onto the wand through the top hole. The chosen card is seen to rotate 180 degrees whilst on the wand, separating itself from the rest of the cards. Not a miracle, but it was a nice effect ... |

I have a smaller version of this effect which I bought from Marvins Magic, Collectable Card Tricks, the one you mention is called Magical Masterpieces in this set. There are 6 cards showing paintings by the great artist eg Leonardo Da vinci, the Mona Lisa etc and you used a small artists paint brush to place through the top hole, which worked in the same way as you describe.
Sounds very similar to what you describe. |

Try Chinese Rising Cards (deck). This was so called because a chop stick was the motive source.

Flip, by Haines House of Cards, though it was a full deck of cards and the selected card would flip up.

There's a very clear picture of the direction sheet for FLIP that says the trick was originally offered by Abbott's, but they stopped selling it. John Snyder worked a deal to acquire the rights from Abbott's. (circa 1943) Julie |
