I've been a member of this community approximately 9 weeks and the experience has been great. The Cafe has allowed me to learn from and listen to others of more experience regarding magic and it's many facets. If you are wondering what type of magic I study, I work on classic close-up. I use gaffs but I get much more excited about possible routines which require no gaffs. Recently received "Up in Smoke" & "Knock 'em Dead"; both are super videos and they will occupy the majority of my study & "new routine" time. I look forward to spending more time at the Cafe and I look forward to growing in magic with all the members.

Your passion for magic is evident in your words!

"Up in Smoke", and "Knock Em Dead" are great choices for videos!

Welcome! If you want a break from the close-up world drop by our mentalists’ table in the corner of the Cafe by the window.

We are under the sign that says "A Penny For Your Thoughts" but I sense you knew that.

Hello Steve,

I was floored by "Unholy Gathering" and I immediately made the gaff.

I love the routine. The coin routine by P.C. is wonderful but I don’t want to invest in such a gaff for now.

I simply have too many other books & videos which I need to study more.

AMX already has hit men looking for me.

Regarding mentalism, I have neither knowledge nor experience but I am interested in learning more.

For the time being, such an investigation is not on my front burner.

I have noticed several people who are great close up artist's who have lost some interest in close up & have gone into mentalism.

Eric Anderson dived into this, just how deeply I don't know and also I’ve heard that Gary Kurtz has reduced his close up work for mentalism.

Is this a tread with close up people or what? Do they simply get burned out with classic palms and card passes?

What is your opinion?

Hi Robin!

That’s great you made the gaff for,

"Unholy Gathering". Fun! Fun! Fun!

I looked into the gaff for P.C. gimmick as well-cool, but kind of pricey!

You know, I think you’re right! A good friend of mine, who’s excellent at close up has ventured into mentalism as well!

I think with him, it’s more of a growth for his magic and a curiosity to become the best he can be! He’s already great at it! He’s only been into magic a few years, yet has kind of become a walking encyclopedia of magic! Maybe just a little bored with the old moves, and in with the new etc!

Just needs "new stimulation" to keep the interest alive and fun maybe!

I know with me, I go through phases where I really get into my magic, and then back off at times to take a rest from it! Seems to work best that way for me! Keeps the interest alive so I want to come back to it! So yes, to answer your question I think people do get bored to some extent, and I think that’s kinda normal!

It sure is nice chatting with you!

Have a great Christmas too!

Smile
