Dear fellow Magi,
i am going through Tom Osborne and having a hard time to understand Lesson 9 'The roll flash', does anyone has experience and success with this move ? Some tips would be much welcome. Also if anyone is not acquainted with this specific lesson, I could PM a brief of the text from the book. (maybe my English finds limitation in understanding the text). thanks VG |

The roll flash is a very important feint. The idea is that you have a shell moving with the pea held out behind it, and as you move it into line with the other shells, you go too far. The pea is released under the shell and the pea rolls out from the front of the shell where it is spotted, and immediately the shell is rapidly moved back into line with the other shells, stealing the pea. The pea is held out or placed under another shell as they are "straightened." The front half of the School for Scoundrels shells is slanted so that the pea remains in touch with the top of the shell anytime it is in the front half. This makes it easy to feel where the pea is and control it. Hope this helps.
Here is a similar move of mine, Pop's Feint, recorded by Newell Unfried at Hollywood Magic: |
