Hello, everyone. A user on another outlet posted this and I thought I'd see if anyone here can help me identify the trick so I can pass on the information. Thanks in advance!
"I'm working with someone who has a brain injury and really wants to remember a card trick he used to do. The trick starts with me selecting a card, he discards about half the deck, and then he starts showing me 3 cards at a time while asking if any of them is my card. Then he takes one card out of the rotation and puts the other 2 back under the deck. He narrows it down to less than 10 cards but then can't finish the trick. His son has told me this looks like what he used to do as well so I think the process is pretty accurate. I want to help him relearn this trick. Can anyone tell me the name or link me a video?"

Would it work with the keycard principle?
You'll know the card when you go through the deck in threes and to from there to an exciting reveal. Discarded half of deck: keep track of cards on return. |

My suspicion from the description is that it's a keycard or a mathematical/sorting trick, something on that order. I did ask the poster for more information about the selection process, or any other details of handling, but there's been no answer yet.
This going through cards in threes and eliminating one at a time seems distinctive. I've never seen a trick with that kind of process, so I was hoping it would ring a bell for someone.
