I downloaded this at penguin magic and I have to admit there is some really nice thinking involved in this. Depending on how you decide to do what you need to do with your deck of cards you could actually do this blindfolded. I used one of those authentic Casino used deck of cards that I had because with those decks they normally cut them or blot them with indelible ink or magic marker and that will Aid you in doing what needs to be done.
This is one of those effects where you wonder how it's done yet it does work. I very much recommend this and I believe you will have lots of fun with it. Also another nice thing about this is once you do this affect you can go into another card Effect that you do with your cards anyway. Good magic to all, Eric |

Is this the same effect he did on the “At the Table” Live lecture?

I looked in both his books Tesseract and Power Plays and I don't this trick listed. Mike has a lot of 21Card trick variations. They are all good. But I didn't find one with the cards being dealt facedown.

It's identical to one he did at the At the Table lecture except for the cards being dealt face down.

I did not see the lecture but I do know this is really fantastic. And it's also 100% dependable and reliable. I don't end it the way he does I believe that speeds it up a little too much but I do have a few different endings that I do that I've been working with.

Gumbini, I mean no offense but I’ve read in previous posts of yours that you cannot provide direct links in your posts as you do not know how. This confuses me as it’s a simple copy and paste, no extra code or anything unusual needs to be added. If you have tried it, I’m baffled by how you would have possibly failed.
Just tap or click on the address bar to reveal the current page's full address and make sure it is highlighted, typically it is highlighted automatically, and then select COPY. Then when writing your post here on the Café simply click PASTE. Boom, done! So simple even I can do it!!! 😃 Which in this case would look like this: https://www.penguinmagic.com/p/15713 But thanks for the heads up. Looks cool and I bought it. |

Haha! Looking forward to more monstrous behaviour, Eric.
Please check regularly if you are becoming the type of magician Jerry Seinfeld jokes about. (This applies to mentalists as well.)

Just remember to only use your newfound powers for good!
AFA The Knowing, I’ve always been fond of the ending where you lay all the cards out face up, and then say you are certain the next card you turn over will be their selection. They believe this to mean that you are going to turn the next face down card face up, which they know for certain is wrong because they can already see their card has been dealt face up on the table. But then you surprise them and turn their face up card so it is face down. I’ll have to try it out and see if it works well. Personally, I don’t mind dealing the cards face up vs face down because I don’t think it takes anything significant away but does add a huge advantage. For instance, being able to perform this with a borrowed, shuffled deck and requiring zero prep work of any kind. Another aspect I particularly like is that because it uses only 21 cards I can keep a stack of 18 cards intact on top of the deck for another routine I perform a lot and still do The Knowing utilizing 21 cards from the bottom half. So that’s a very useful benefit for me of having this routine in my arsenal. But however you decide to do it, it’s an excellent effect from Mike. Practically self-working but strong enough to fool magicians. |

Videoman...... only for good I promise. And what a wonderful idea you came up with with the old the next card I turn over will be yours! I used to do that years ago and completely forgot about that. That is absolutely a wonderful genius idea for this. I just thought also of another way of doing it where you still deal them face down but you know where their card is at and then you take the next card and Flash it just for a moment and say okay the next card I turn over will be yours and then put it back down on the deck and then proceed to turn over the card you know is theirs either way that is a great idea. Thank you for sharing it.

Hi guys,
Thanks for the interest in The Knowing. It's number on on Penguin right now. It's similar to what was taught in the At the Table lecture, but the new face down handling adds another dimension to the concept. There are also a couple of other ideas in the download. If you have enjoyed the download, please leave a review on Penguin. It'll help the cause! Mike

I picked this up and I really like the application of a very old and mostly forgotten principle plus the addition of some really devious thinking. I like performing this with the cards face down until only one card is left where the participant eliminates piles and then cards until only one remains, their card.
Really good! KJ |

Just FYI, Mike also graciously provided a PDF that goes a little more in-depth on a particular part of the method that I can't reveal here, but also provides a bonus trick from his book Power Plays. It's well worth the read.

I think all magicians should consider having a really good version of the 21 card trick. Not to show someone up, but just to show how the same trick can become an impossibility. I have an impromptu version that doesn't use any gimmicks that I developed and really like, but I really like this one if I'm prepared with the gimmicks. Also, these gimmicks can always be in your deck and nobody is likely to notice them.
If anyone is interested in an ungimmicked version, pm me. KJ |
