Zoltars Opener By Peter Nardi

12 years ago I set myself the task of developing a quick, sure fire, high impact effect for my mix and mingle performances. I was looking for an alternative to the Invisible Deck (which I used as part of a larger routine at tables) I created an effect which I performed for many years and because of the reactions it soon became my opening piece. It really ticks all the boxes.

In 2018 I had a new presentation idea which was fun and I believe took the effect to a new level.

Zoltar’s Opener was never designed to be a magician fooler (even though it does fool a lot of magicians!) it was designed as a worker. The method is simple, yet sound, the presentation and story are fun and it may be performed in less than a minute (if required) or if you’re like me you will build it up to a 2 -3 minute effect with patter.

Everything about this effect pleases me. The story the method and most importantly the impact it has on my spectators.

Zoltar’s opener is also perfect to perform over Zoom.

I would like to see a Vidio, don't think there is one? , I like Circus,fortune type card effect's as well.

I have to agree anyone that does not produce a demo video is a red flag 🚩 to me

Especially Alakazam who knock out more demo videos than I have had hot dinners

This effect isn't officially launched yet, hence the lack of demo. It was released in a small batch when it was shown on one of the lives. But those who like the Zoltar presentation will really enjoy this. It's really quirky and great fun. Does what it says on the tin!

As Jamie Daws mentions it was shown on one of the Alakazam lives and as not been officially launched yet.

Jamie Daws to the rescue as per usual. If it hasn’t been officially released yet then why is the product for sale on Alakazam’s website with four glowing reviews? You couldn’t make it up.

Great presentational re-skin of a magic standard.

Price point seems high for what you get.

I can see this playing brilliantly for laymen.

The question is, who wrote the reviews? Let's do some digging and find out.

Looks identical to double vision by Mark Mason of JB magic method wise .
Just different printed cards and of course the box in Peters version takes out any discrepancies of the backs which is a very nice touch.
I like the premise and loved the film so it’s a very nice take on an old idea which would of definitely proceeded Mark Mason as well Gaz 😊

Numbered by Astor uses the same method but Astor has the Sv..g.l. de.. done on the long sides which is much better at fooling laymen and even magicians imho Gaz 😊

Pegasus Its still not officially advertised yet on the site,it was hidden on the site until those of us that watched the Alakazam live Peter Nardi told them to search for Zoltans opener because it had not been launched officially and stock supply would not be enough if it was advertised fully on the site.

Peter said it would be a few months before officially released. Also you still cant see it on the site only when those that know about it and search for it,The reviews are from those that watched the live and purchased I presume.

I have this coming as I like the premise and story around the routine, and I did enjoy the movie! In my opinion, it was one of Tom Hanks best movies. However, I don't really care for the display(s) per se. So I will probably not use the display(s) taught, and might change the method to something a little more convincing. Think roughing stick, or actually something similar, on parts of the card, etc... But it is a fun premise and for lay people I will try it as it it taught, more or less, and see how it plays. If it plays fine without changing the method, then I'll just leave it as it is.
