Because of computer problems, I can't go into too much detail here. Because of money, my computer problems will be here a while, so because of that you'll get that ever familiar "Note" at the bottom of this post. I hate repeating myself but it's just so people don't "get on to me for spelling errors". Anyway I'll rate 1-10, with 10 being perfect.
1. Torn 'N' Restored Card - This is a very excellent trick. It'll take some practice. I don't know of very many methods of this type of trick, but of some of the methods I've "tried" to read, this version doesn't seem as hard as other methods go. (9) 2. Royal Dectives - Another great trick. However J.C. favors a particular palming technique, that I just CAN'T get away with as a stand-up "Street Performer" with people looking down on all sides except the very back of me. With that aside, this is a real fooler. (7.5) 3. Omni Twist Collector's - I've always loved this plot. He throws in a "Twisting" theme as well. This is a VERY ENTERTAINING trick. I find some of the counts a bit complicating though to me at least. Like most of J.C.'s stuff this will take considerable practice. (8.5) 4. Prediction Out Of This World - I think this is a good trick. To me I am often "lost", and kind of bored with "Out Of This World" tricks, as I find them a bit "Drawn Out". The explanations tend to "loose me" easily too. I'm not sure why. Maybe this type of trick just doesn't suit my performing style. That is just my opinion however. (6.5) 5. Polish Market Deck - This is probably my MOST FAVORITE effect on this tape. Like "2 Shuffles Harry" this is another trick that inspires me to learn a certain shuffle. This is ONE OF THE BEST triump effects I have EVER seen. The ending really hits the people right between the eyes. I personally would do the "Market Cards" bit myself. I'd end after the triump part with the different colored backs. This trick to me at least is technically demanding, but real worth learning. (9.5) 6. Transpojuxtaposition - Ahh...finally a trick I can actually do on this tape...lol. This is also a very entertaining trick. I love his use of the mexican turnover from a spread. I've never seen it done like that. It passed right by me. This is actually in my act (or the "Street Tricks" that I perform. A great, and funny "Two Card Transposition". (8.5) 7. J.C. On Collin's Aces - Not much to be said here. The trick is a classic, and a good one at that. I use to do this trick years ago. I need to "re-learn" it more I guess. (8.5) 8. J.C's Fabulous Four Ace Trick - Another classic Ace Assembly Trick with some great touches. This needs lots of practice too. (8) 9. 2 Copper-1 Silver - This is a trick that you need to buy. I don't do much coin tricks, but I do have this one. Unfortunately this trick of mine has been collecting dust, in favor of "Scotch & Soda", and "Lethal Tender". Seeing this DVD though makes me want to do and practice it once again. (9) 10. Glass Thru Bar - Another awesome classic. I personally prefer the salt shaker more. He does make this a very funny & entertaining trick however. (8) I love J.C.s great energy and entertainment value of his tricks and presentation of them. He is one funny guy. His tricks ARE NOT for beginners however. Because a lot of his tricks use a Gambler's Cop (Which he explains well here), because of my performing venue, I'm not quite sure how practical his tricks are for me, unless I'm at a table sitting perhaps. I knew this however since I also have his "Commercial Magic" book as well. I just got the DVD to obviously learn some tricks, but also to see his performing style as well. I also learn better from Video/Dvd than I do from books. Overall I rate the video a (8).

Great review Eddini!
The video would be more than worth the money if all it contained were Polish Marked Deck and J.C's Fabulous Four Ace Trick. Iain. |
