Gaz, for close up, I usually lay on the floor facing upwards 🤪

I bought Visible and have watched the entire series, twice. Great work here and I have very excited to take them for a test run.
The funny thing is the biggest take away for me was the way Craig handles the deck. The way he does it requires only one thing to remember, is the even or the odd section facing up (BTW, if you cannot remember that Jack is odd and queen is even, I can't help). When he spreads through the deck, the faces are towards the spectator (duh) and the "backs" are facing towards him. Now all he is doing is looking for a card, not doing math. The biggest memory requirement is which kings are which. I had always had the backs facing the floor and had to do the math, which isn't hard, but it is still something that takes your mind away from the performance. Sorry, gotta go, Future Scott is calling. |

The good thing is this project opens up not only other great applications but gives you confidence if you don’t want to constantly do the maths.
For me I personally don’t need to do the maths as I now just know visually in my mind what card I need to look for as soon as the spectator names one. It’s like riding a bike for me I just don’t forget it or my times tables for that matter. As far as odd and even goes there couldn’t be a bigger more prevalent marker ie odd card (AS) printed on every bike box so that has never ever been an issue imo Gaz 😊 |

I just finished watching Visible.
Amazing stuff! I had an Invisible Deck gathering dust at the back of a draw somewhere. Needless to say, the dust is no more. I'm happy it comes with new decks too becauase I'll be scribbling all over at least one of them with a Sharpie marker after seeing the videos. Thank you Craig for a really solid product |

This is one of the most interesting projects I have seen in recent years. It’s not a rehash. It’s very accessible material that is full of creativity and clever thinking. I can easily see some of the ideas sparking new plots in the future. What Craig has done here is nothing short of amazing. This is a fantastic project. It is one purchase I’ve made recently that didn’t make me instantly regret it. Excellent explanations and well produced. This is a modern day classic and the bar to which other projects will be measured in the future.

Got it! Some great ideas. I'm sure this will spark ideas in others. It's a fascinating project with lots of cool presentations. Well, worth the money.

I have to say I am enjoying this very much and the decks that you get with it ( once broken in as craig recommends) are fantastic
Magic is all around us we just have to be willing to see it.

Not being able to record the instructions is a pointless deal killer for me. When you want to go back and try some of the other verions they won't, not might not, be there.

I also have very dry hands and a little of either of these (a short time prior to handling the cards) does the trick - so to speak! Hope that helps!

OK, it took a determined effort, but I have now read this entire thread … and ordered Visible from my local online magic shop. I have been using a home made ID (Krylon) to good effect but have wondered what more could be done with this time honoured concept. It should arrive within a couple of weeks.
I am aware of a lot of Craig’s work, mostly via his YouTube presence, and was confident this would be good value. The Café’s collective opinion closed the deal. Thanks for the encouragement!

I already had IDs but bought this for the routines, however, does anyone find the decks that come with this glued together? Mine won't separate... Been trying to break these in for an hour.
Even more reason to offer this as a download. |

Apologies for that! And regarding the downloads; we (well, Jack - I don’t know PHP from MTV) originally coded a streaming service for a couple of reasons; one was to make it more difficult to pirate, to protect the work of the magicians we’re producing, and secondly was to make it easier to view on all devices as more and more people are using phones and tablets as their main ‘computers’. That’s why sites like Udemy, Masterclass and other educational outlets do the same. Inside the account on the1914.com, the videos auto play one after another and it tracks your progress as you go. I, personally, much prefer that kind of system; especially with longer courses like this. In its current form, it’s around 2TB of lessons, which is mammoth. HOWEVER, we’ve talked with a number of our customers and seen feedback here and elsewhere, and we’re currently working on a solution that will allow for local downloading, while still retaining an element of security to protect our artists work (and hopefully will allow us to contribute to bringing down the pirates over time). It’s taking a little time as we’re only a small team, 6 months into this new venture, but it’s underway; and that goes for all current and future 1914 productions. I’m glad to see all the great feedback here on Craig’s Invisible Deck course; we begin production on the next two volumes of the Remixed Classics series next month, and there’s some really, REALLY strong material in those that we can’t wait to share! All the best, DC. // The 1914.

Dee, thanks for your thoughtful response re: downloads.
To add a little more detail to my initial message, I think that we are all trying to build and curate our own magic libraries, and streaming-only videos are totally dependent on the maintenance of complex software and servers by--to your point--very small businesses. We all know that magic companies come and go all the time, and when the inevitable happens (whether we're talking about a closure, a merger, or just a back-end change to a website that doesn't account for the oldest material), videos will be lost to the ether. Downloadable videos in standard formats are not perfect, by any means, but they come much closer to being "future-proof," as we can reasonably expect them to be playable or convertible for many years to come. This issue of piracy is real, to be sure, but anybody who is determined to illicitly share or sell your material has already figured out a way to download it. Streaming-only really only hurts the honest consumer who wants to index and store all their material in one place, like they would a collection of books. Evan |

I’m proud to say that we can ensure that will never happen (even if we weren’t going to go down the download route, which we are… Haha); some may remember that The1914 originally started almost a decade ago as a hobby project between Jack and I, we only produced a few products from artists we knew were going to make waves, the first Fraser Parker DVD and the first Lewis Lé Val DVD were through us, for instance. Eventually, the project came to a close about 8 years ago, we did streaming video back then too, and I’m proud to say that we made sure that our previous customers were still able to access everything and go back to their streaming accounts, even when the business was no more. I think it’s the company’s responsibility to do so, and it didn’t cost a lot of money to keep it accessible throughout the years! Regardless, I’m looking forward to finally switching on the download side of the new 1914, it shouldn’t be much longer, and it also opens with up other avenues for us distribution wise, which our streaming system didn’t allow. So the future is bright! As a related side note, we’re always open to suggestions and looking to improve our service and the way we produce, teach and distribute our products, the inbox in my previous comment is always open. We’re currently having a brand new, much more scalable and future proof site built (and of course, all customer accounts will be migrated!), so now is a really great time for us to get comments and thoughts from the community. We recently ran a survey to our subscribers, which gave us a solid indication of what to do (downloads came up in that too), but you can never have too much feedback! Thanks again for the support, I’m looking forward to seeing many more reviews pop up for Craig’s project - it’s something we’re all really proud of and can’t wait to get onto the next ones! Dee, thanks again for another thoughtful response. Looking forward to whatever comes next! I've only watched the first five chapters of the Visible package, but it's been great so far. Craig is a wonderful thinker and teacher. My only small quibble is that the audio would have been better if there was a mic on him. He has a very resonant voice, and the room is quite echoey. But this is a small thing.

I purchased the Shadow through Vanishing Inc as I hadn't heard of you guys before, and didn't want to take the risk ordering from a new unknown site. As you distribute your effects through Murphys, it would be nice if you included a card with a download code in the packaging the same way Alakazam do, that way you can add the code to your account and view all of your tricks in the same place, rather than having to visit a different link for anything purchased elsewhere. REALLY excited to see what you guys come out with next in the re-imagined classics line, you're knocking it out of the park so far. |
