That’s because the switch is not easy and takes a lot of practice so that you don’t flash what is going on
Secondly it is very expensive for what you all know you get to accomplish the selected card |

Let’s take a look at how much such a effect costs on the market, we have several to compare it to: Bang On - $120 Streamlined 2.0 - $75 (roughly around there when you do the exchange rate conversion from GBP) Invisible Card - $50 (court cards only) Quantum Connection - $250 Instagrab - $45 (court cards only, I love this gimmick though but the Switch One gimmick is replacing what I used this gimmick for) Pathfinder- $120 You’re simply grossly inaccurate here. Now, will some people be disappointed by this? I guarantee some will, the reason being that the move looks so good and so clean that they assumed that the gimmick did the switch for you and when they receive this and learn that it is a move they have to learn and practice a little bit, they are put off because they were basically expecting something that was ready to go out of the box and practically self working. |

An observation appears a lot of magicians just don't want to put in a little work for good magic. OSYN is a great switch.
Best Steve
"The New York Papers," Mark Twain once said,"have long known that no large question is ever really settled until I have been consulted; it is the way they feel about it, and they show it by always sending to me when they get uneasy. "

And when it came out people were angry that you couldn't do the effect in the trailer without also buying Madison's Advocate (or some other i***x). So you just can't win. Where this falls short is not making it clear that the gimmick is not for the switch. |

"It mixes a revolutionary, burnable, invisible switch with a new index" - from Vanishing Inc's website.
"Q: Does the switch use a gimmick? A: No, the switch is pure sleight of hand." Also from their website. How much clearer can it be? Maybe they've updated it to clarify, I don't know. |

I was too busy trying to get the site up when it launched because the site was being bombarded at the time, I didn’t take notice. Steve Faulkner’s review however did basically tip that the switch was a move and since that is a move, the gimmick must have been the in***x. Wasn’t that hard to figure out from that review to be honest. |

I thought since there was a lot of buzz around it when it came out at the Blackpool Convention, that everyone knew what was going on already. Certainly enough information has been around for over a year.
I realise I was mistaken, especially as I read the reviews on Penguin, which I found hilarious. With forums like this and various review shows, one doesn't need to make bad or uninformed purchases. I guess we all fall victim to the fear of missing out, and we do kneejerk purchases. For what it's worth this looks fantastic, and if it takes a couple of weeks of practise, that's nothing. We've all spent far longer on other moves. |

It does none of the work for you. It is just a filing cabinet for your pocket." It's like people discovering magic for the first time and when they learn their first secret, they get upset that it's not actually magic. |

Kissdadookie - that's exactly what it feels like! And people assume that because they can't see Christian fumble, that it must be a secret device that does it. Because who would practise to make something look that good?!

Regardless of your opinions Switch One, like all of the Latest and Greatest effects that seem to manifest on a weekly basis, will generate a buzz for the next week or two. Magicians will purchase it. MAYBE a few will practice it enough to warrant a presentation to friends/family/ co-workers and then move on to the next Latest and Greatest magical wonder that will flood our screens with trailers showing pretty girls screaming in astonishment as a hip young magician with colorful sleeve tattoos and cool jewelry does something with, most likely, a card related magic trick.
The important thing is that a clever magician will make some $$$ selling his idea to those of us who are more likely to purchase magic as a hobbyist as opposed to a working pro looking for something new to add to the walk around set at their local restaurant gigs. For me personally, I love the plot and it has given me motivation to work on something similar, but with a method that differs from Switch One. |

But many will not so they are forced to buy a gimmick they will not use which surely accounts for a large part (probably most) of the cost. I'm sure you will see many of these hit the second hand market as people either use the switch or not but regardless many will want to sell the index and the switch video will have to be included with it. |

Just read the brutal reviews on Penguin, which are hilarious. I also thought some gimmick was involved in the switch before purchasing but had the opposite reaction to those reviews when watching the explanation. Surprise and excitement at the versatility and simplicity of the switch and genuine relief that I don't need to carry around a gimmick (that could break) or have some sort of body hookup (with clothing restrictions) for the switch itself.
