Oh no! The post office lost mine after all those months of waiting!
Thank goodness Ellusionist released digital content to the backers. I've been enjoying going through it piece by piece. It is loooong but so good. Personally I found the jam sessions to be where I got the most out of it. The other extremely important thing to keep in mind is that you are not Pete Turner. As he says repeatedly, you have got to make this your own and you have to be genuine. That's one reason I love that he has Mark Lemon opposite him. Their styles are so different and it's great to see how they change it up. I'm also really happy I picked up Mind Games as an add on. I love psychological forces and have used a couple of Pete's for a few years now. Also, regarding what someone said above about Ellusionist's response to someone complaining, the backer bad faith. E definitely didn't take the high road, but I also can't really fault them (and realistically it's only one or two people running the kickstarter) for feeling a bit taken aback. Not only was the backer accusing them of ripping them off after they provided 11 hours of content when they promised 3, but they weren't even doing the math right. Also that backer almost instantly complained people were harassing them. I don't see how since Kickstarter profiles are private by default. There isn't even an option to DM, let alone pull together enough info to dox. They wanted to cause drama because E called them out. |

Just got mine in, still working my way through the videos but as always I thoroughly consider this worth the initial investment. Peter knows his stuff and while I sincerely doubt that most of us have the nerve that he has to pull some of his performances off, I am excited to begin implementing some of this into my own performances pretty much immediately, and I haven't even gotten to the "best" parts.
I agree with the person above who said the extras in the kit weren't necessary. I legitimately would have been just as pleased with the videos and saved myself the time waiting for shipping. The cards/dice/and pen are all nice looking, but otherwise not super important to me. Also, maybe I'm just having trouble, but how do you get the pen open to put the ink in it? I think there is a seam but is it just a twist thing? |

It’s the PT self defense kit. If you drop the dice in a sock, you’re ready for any performing environment:)

Sleeping in a truck stop wasn’t fun at all, it was so noisy in a really rough place I’d been told by the locals to avoid unless I wanted to be robbed. I have so much footage from my time doing it that I might just make a YouTube video with some of the stuff that didn’t make it in at some point. I even found the footage of two guys attempting to rob Mark in Spain and me accosting the pair of them. I got sunstroke so badly and was so ill coming back from Spain, I didn’t eat for several days and that was all ‘diary-cammed’ the journey to London in a little smart car (as the dice also chose the transport during the trips also all filmed) was so uncomfortable and the walking hours and hours to get places when they were taking taxis etc. in the heat also wasn’t fun - they filmed the bits in-between the performances where I’m just so run down I didn’t want to talk to anyone. I ended up with hardrives of footage - it was so hard to pick what to put in to keep it engaging. The bit in the documentary about quitting etc. (Just before the mountain) is glossed over and seems like an over reaction / unnecessary drama but I really was annoyed over an accumulation of things (that were filmed but didn’t make the cut) to the point I had no motivation, I genuinely was ready to Jack it in, even arguing on one of the team calls and just not being myself, the message I couldn’t get across is how it makes you change who you are and act out of character. It makes you feel like a prisoner and you’re not yourself and the moment the dice goes away, you don’t feel anxious or apprehensive. It’s made me re-evaluate a lot, about who I am and what I want from my performances/ creations. I think it’s a topic for a YouTube Pete x |

Indeed not. It wasn't 50 years ago, either, when George Cockcroft came up with the idea. [/quote]
It’s a wonderful book isn’t it? I loved that he wrote in a pseudonym, such a mysterious character. My favourite quote was the Richard Branson quote when he attempted it. I hope the people who watched it was inspired to go out and get the book - it’s well worth a read. Pete x |

Having finally gotten my kit in the mail, I’m disappointed to learn we don’t get full unedited performances. Pete does call this out and talks about how much people interfered with filming, but the Kickstarter post for Dice Man claimed we’d get the rest in the kit.
“ Not all performances feature in this documentary. The rest will be on the kit.” That’s just ended up not being true unless I’m missing something. There’s a video called “performances director’s cut” but it only covers two effects. On the plus side it is a bit nice to not get a bias from someone else’s performance. There is enough to get the gist of each routine and the editing doesn’t misrepresent the effects, it’s just missing portions where they might have had trouble. Good on Pete for acknowledging this even if E doesn’t. |

I’m waiting for my kit to arrive and shocked to read about not getting full unedited performances?! Surely this should be the idea as with the majority of effects. You get a trailer, then a full unedited performance, then the teachings.
Which routines are not showing the full performances? Thanks |

All that I can find is the Dice Man part 2 which we’ve already seen on KS, and then one other “performance’s directors cut” that only shows Ambidextrous and Jedi Thief. Everything else is already the content available for download in your Ellusionist account. No need to wait for the kit it seems; there’s just that one extra. I really wonder if it’s a mistake since I’m so many of the teachings Pete references performance videos that don’t exist. |

I find it unbelievable if that’s the case (which I believe what you are saying) for a production experienced company such as E, they would know not just correct, but normal expected format would be to include all performances for each effect. The annoying thing is that each effect was filmed for them to take so much time putting the trailer together advertising each content effect.
It should be standard practice showing a performance of each effect before the teachings. By watching real world performances is another way how to learn too. Especially as you said Pete references the performances, and they are not shown?! Very strange and extremely disappointing if that’s the case. |

Here’s a list of the performances -
Spain - Hand stick to Name Amnesia London - (Stage show) Memory divination. London - Midas Touch London - 2x Midas Touch London - Hand Stick - Name Amnesia London Jedi Push London - (Corporate event) Jedi Choke London - Insurance London - (Close up show) Insurance Idle - Hand Stick to Name amnesia to (bonus) Pin Reveal Idle - Friction Ilkley - (Jui jitsu dojo) - Bonus Object Divination Ilkley - (Jui jitsu dojo) - Jedi Push Ilkley - (Jui jitsu dojo) - Knock back induction to Try Principle to actual hypno to bonus name revelation. Ilkley - (Jui jitsu dojo) - Spectator does Knockback Osset - House party - Suggestibility test, double hand stick name Amnesia. Osset - House Party - Knock back induction to bonus £1000 hypno bet Spain - (directors cut) - Knock back / Jedi theft Leeds (previous tape) - Jedi Theft. Wakefield (home) - Ambidextrous to bonus info revelations. Plus performances on Mark and Duane when discussing inductions etc. Also a few montages of these effects and the reactions they get in the above environments. Filming these in-between the lockdowns and government imposed rules was hard work - but I definitely never missed any live performances - even filming some multiple times. Maybe I’m not understanding, but everything is there. If we’re talking about the hours of extra ideas added in the jam session - they were just that a jam session where brand new ideas and concepts were born. Pete x |
