Even though I like what I see in the practice mirror, it has only been 3 days since I got the Three-Ring Circus. It is hard to resist showing it, but each day I think of another small improvement.
HELP. I gather from forum discussions that the gaff ring was breakable when this trick came out, which made buyers unhappy. So, the gaff was changed. I appreciate that, but am guessing the easily-breakable gaff 'looked better.’ Although I am very happy with what I got, I think the earlier version might be nice to show to folks I know have a very discerning eye. If it ‘looked more convincing’ does anyone want to sell me the old breakable version? If the old one looked the same, please let me know that.

I have the new one (Penguin sent me a replacement set), and I LOVE it!
If you hold it right, you cannot tell. As Sankey says, you can let them examine the first one, shuttle pass, and let them examine the "second" one...etc. I've found that my "sideways" handling is a bit more deceptive, and at the end, I hand out (or as Jay says, "OOT"), all three... This is a winner! Once in a while, Sankey comes out with a KILLER! This is it! Thank you again to Maxwell at Penguin for being so kind. Doug |

Ehands-
My 3 ring circus shipped with both the old and new gaffed ring sets. Oddly, the old set was broken upon arrival. Other than quality of the bonding, I see little difference between the sets and doubt you would be able to appreciate any real improvement. If you don't like the current set, you can make your own and make the ________ in the gaffed ring any size you want. There are other posts in the Café for making a replacement gaffed ring. In the end though, I agree with Doug - the new set looks great. Passing the rings out at the end (or beginning) of the routine usually takes the heat off the rings. Done well, this is a very deceptive trick, though I doubt you will fool magician friends adept with linking rings. Cheers, Tiki |

The only difference between the old and new sets is that the new ones are slightly bigger, and they are bonded together better.

Thanks, Chris, Tiki, and Doug.
I mistakenly imagined the original gaff was something else. Glad you enlightened me. And I agree this is a fine trick and the discussions are terrific. The shared experiences inspired me to make some and I tried different sizes. A non-magician gave me a key ring the next day and it had a neat can opener attached. I was able to replace its ring with an identical one from the different sizes I had, hiding the ____ initially under the attached opener. This mod would have been sloppy for normal use, but for the person who gave me the ring it seemed convincing and allowed me to display the ring differently thanks to the opener being attached.
