Two ideas:

1) This is the way I would do it: remove a "handful" of change from pocket (10/12 coins) and put in table. Say "Let's use the "different" ones". Move away the X coins needed for the effect, but leave the others on the table.

Ask the spec to take them into hand, then discard the X coins as per instruction, but again, leave them on table.

Have spec select coin and notice date; take ALL the coins (all the coins on the table plus the ones he has in his hand). Proceed to the reveal.

This in my opinion is a MUCH BETTER way to create a false memory. Also more difficult to see through the deception (can't explain more).

2) In certain cases you can select a member of the audience, and proceed to force a 2 digit number with the old "think of a number between 50 and 100, both digits even but different, etc".

In this way you get a reveal from a spec from the audience.

Hope it makes sense.

Cheers

Some nice ideas, thanks for sharing.

My thoughts:

1) Yes that is a very viable option. I tend to assume I won't have the luxury of a table at a walk around event. However, if a table is available, this would be certainly be a strong way to present 'Change of Mind'.

2) I do like to introduce psychological forces into existing effects to get more reveals. The number selection you are referring to (trying to be a bit cryptic due to this being an open forum) is particularly nice, as it augmented by language to give an increased percentage on the hit rate. Of course, the relevant coins would need to be sourced. The performance would be, I think, as per the book but then have another participant try to 'pick up' on what the performaer believes the answer to be. This then covers a close miss, as the participant is not a skilled mind reader.

I've just finished reading this free offering from Paul, and I think it is a beautiful effect. For years I've done a simple trick with pocket change that involves deducing whether a freely selected coin is heads or tails. From now on, I'll be incorporating "Change of Mind" into this routine.

Thank you so much for sharing this with us.
