There is a video with mac king promoting his new show, its titled...
'magician mac king gives a look at his new show' posted june 23 2021.
(if someone could post a link that would be appreciated)

In it mac performs what to me is the perfect card trick,
the news guy thinks of a card in the pack, mac places a card in his
Pocket visibly, and it's the card the guy thought of.

Now I admit I'm not a big "card guy" but I quite like this trick and performance.

2 questions: did mac invent this?
And: is anyone else as impressed as I am?

Not sure what you want to link to but if you go to google and type in "magician mac king gives a look at his new show" There's quite a bit of information about the show.
Where the magic begins

Sorry dave for not being specific, it was an interview on fox 5 in nevada,
the clip is available on youtube with the precise title,
'magician mac king gives a look at his new show'

Putting this into google should bring up the youtube video first,
its also on the fox 5 website.

First off Mac is one of the must see shows. I looked forward to him coming to the Funny Bone every year and he is nothing but better with time.

No he didn’t invent the card thing. The concept is with old but maybe he has work on it.

Yes mac is an excellent performer. Possibly the best in vegas.

As for the card trick, I believe it was developed by marc oberon,
but I could be mistaken. Regardless he got a lot out of it.

I think you'll find some work on it here. JC Wagner had several version of Estimation on his Commercial magic of JC Wagner vids.

Sounds like a pocket index. Anyway, I had an idea for Fedora to add an alter-ego to his act...Sombrero. Don't know why I thought of that. (We were talking about the origin of his Fedora)

That seems like a version of Derek Dingle's "One-Hand Fan Force Technique and Outs" from The Complete Works of Derek Dingle page 153. Mac is using a two handed fan whereas Dingle used a pressure fan.

This is the real deal, thanks for posting! Mac does it twice on a live remote! To me, this was always the Holy Grail of card magic. Among the techniques, it looks like he's using Crosthwaite's Gaze tools. I was surprised at the two handed fan. It chops up the look of the spread, maybe making some cards more notable. Doesn't David Williamson have some work on this?

i agree, I actually consider this the best card trick I've seen.
and It's from someone not known for his card ability,
Mac is definitely talented in more than just comedy.

I think the hiccup cure is a much better effect.

For acutal hiccups, I've used Eddie Fechter's hiccup cure over the years with great success. It's funny to watch them waiting for the hiccup that doesn't come.

Effect wise the hiccup cure has an advantage by not being a card trick.

Was just in vegas, got the chance to see Mac king at his new residency at Excalibur,
Yeah he is the best, or at least that I've seen.

The Excalibur has some of the weirdest seating though, it has these tiny little chairs
lined up against rows of tables.

Tha tables has a special rack to put drinks on, at first I couldn't figure out why you can't
use the table surface, than I remembered that he shares a theater with the
"thunder from down under".

If someone claims they found my fingerprints on those tables they're lying,
i never touched 'em.

His use of back of room sale was particularly interesting, a person takes your
picture on the way in, what folks don't realize is that mac is standing there
the whole time wearing his cloak of invisibility so we can't see him,
he appears in the photo which you can buy on the way out.

He also is there to sign autographs and get pictures with for anyone interested,
I was one of those interested.

In conclusion go see him if you get the chance, just, you know, don't touch the tables.

It is an amazing way to use tech to tie into the show afterwards and give you a story to tell about him. It is a perfect marketing gimmick.

It Is one of the absolute strongest shows going. It stands up against any show ever. Why would he change it just because the venue changed?

It has been brilliant for decades.
