Hello,
I am looking into doing a wand manipulation act, and I was wondering if there are any good resources (preferably a video) on learning this. Thank you, Gary
P.S. this is what part of the alphabet would look like if "Q" and "R" were eleminated

There was a site listed somewhere here in the forum a while ago with an enormous amount of instructions on pen manipulation,
which a wand can be substituted easily... I will keep an Eye out for it and let you know if I run across it again. Later Tom ![]()

A lot of the cigarette manipulations can be used with wands.
What is the color of magic?

What you are looking for is known as flip stick work. I believe Cellini shows some on his new video. I don't know if there is a dedicated resourse, ask Denny @dennymagic.com. He would know.

Don't underestimate your own creativity.
Combine what you learn from other resources with what you yourself come up with. Set aside some time each day to pick up a wand and work with it. The more you do, the better you get, and the more ideas will flow into your mind. Then, as you add resource material, you'll be in a great position to add or modify what your already discovering is best suited for you.
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

For some flip stick creative ideas with wands etc. Kevin james also goes over a lot of it on his DVD/Video lecture at the magic castle. He has some nice ideas in there you may want to check out. Also, go directly to the source and look into the DVD series now out on Flip himself. Flip invented the move and goes into detail about how to do it and variations etc.
you may also want to look at drummers or ask a drummer about drum moves with sticks. basically what I am referring to is drummers have great ways of spinning the drum stick and moving it in the hands. it is something that can be added to a routine to make it look more magical in nature. Kyle

Tarbell course in magic vol.7 pages.221-23 or flips dvd on the flip stick has the most on wand manipulation I've ever seen on video.
Posted: Dec 3, 2007 2:25pm I'm a street performer and it really limits the tricks I can do because of the outdoor and in public conditions. But here are a couple of the flip stick things I do in the beginning of each clips, I use these to build a crowd on the street. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dhOQhy151mo&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93S8QhJD-qo in these I'm just goofin in the back yard. Posted: Dec 3, 2007 2:26pm I learned from tarbell. |

I currently use flip stick in my new manipulation act and it is a blast to perform. I referenced a lot of what was mentioned above as well ad finding Kevin James DVd a big help to me as well. Then a lot of it was simply getting the stuff out and playing around with it to get a feel for it and for what works with my style of performance.
PS: Thanks Jimmy for posting those. Great stuff there my friend. Kyle

Pyromagician,
What kind of wand do you have? Jimmy Talksalot, I have watched your youtube videos quite a few times. They are outstanding and extremely entertaining. I think it is very inspirational and makes me want to learn some flip stick stuff as well. -Vinny |

Loved the videos!
I learned flipstick from a Cellini portion of a Frank Garcia book. Once I had that down, I experimented....a lot. Now, I have a routine that people love to watch. |

I know you asked the other fellah about the wand,
but, I use a drumstick I cut the tip off so it looks the same on both sides the type I use is; PRO-MARK MILLENNIUM II size; 7A japanese oak sometimes I paint them red or yellow. I like 7A cuz it's skinny but the shira kashi oak makes it indestructable which is good because I work on the street. I like it cut to 12 and 1/4 inch |
