Earlier this year, the first edition of Setting The Stage: Content & Character For The Stage Mentalist, sold out in a few weeks thanks in part to some amazing feedback from so many members of our community for whom I have the greatest respect. Given the supply chain issues in the world, it has taken this long for my printer to finally deliver the limited 2nd edition, which is in hand and ready to ship!
Here's a small sample of the initial feedback: "This is the book I wish would have been been smart enough to write at some point in my career. Eric captures everything beautifully, in perfect detail and it is shared in a style that will convince you that you are in the presence of a master. You are about to understand the evolution of not only fresh ideas, but, more importantly, how to become a mentalist people want to watch." - Colin McLeod "Most magic books give you the 'how.' This book gives you the 'why' - in intense detail. Making this book, from a full-time pro, intensely valuable." - Ken Weber "I have a special shelf for books that I have referred to throughout my career and on it are Maximum Entertainment, Stunners Plus, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and a few select others. This book is going on the shelf next to them." - Craig Filicetti "From cover to cover it's filled with practical advice from someone who has been there and done it. Incredible routines and effects are littered throughout. This is my book of the year!" - Looch "....my highest recommendation. Excellent writing style, solid thinking, no filler." - Timon Krause "If you are contemplating a career as a stage mentalist, there are 3 books that you simply must have. Maximum Entertainment, The Artful Mentalism Of Bob Cassidy Volume 2, and Setting The Stage!" - Mark Chandaue "Setting the Stage is easily the best mentalism book I have seen in the last decade. It is a work of passion and creativity, a work of love for the art of mentalism, and a must-have for any serious performer." - Brett Barry "Setting The Stage is an instant classic of modern mentalism. EVERY mentalist should ready this book!" - David Thiel "A masterpiece in complete thinking." - Bro Gilbert "The book is outstanding!" - Michael Gutenplan "Hands down one of the best, if not the best, mentalism book of the 21st Century!" Adrian Saint "Took me to another level!" - Phil Raso "...fabulous book. Full of practical ideas and dynamite effects." - Ian Crawford "Do yourself (and your audiences) a favor and get this book! - Dave Egan "Perhaps the best book on mentalism I've purchased. So much more than I expected." - Buzz Collins Setting The Stage: Content & Character For the Stage Mentalist is now available at www.MentalismTools.com (password: samuels) Click here to view attached image. |

The worse thing I can say about this book is that I don't like the title: "Setting The Stage: Content & Character For the Stage Mentalist"
Not that it isn't accurate-- it's just that it might make you think you're in for a kind of dry collection of essays on the theory of performance and character creation-- blah blah blah. The truth is yes: there are essays about that sort of thing. But they're fun, funny, informative and practical and informed by years of experience-- but really, at it's heart, this book is JAM PACKED BUSTING AT THE SEAMS BURSTING with fantastic mentalism. And I'm not just talking about some "clever ideas" "lovely touches on classics"-- I'm talking about full-blown start to finish professional routines... SCRIPTED! THEMED! READY for you to practice, make your own and perform. It's not cheap and times are tough. There are a handful of routines that use devices you may or may not possess (even though he offers alternative handlings for these) But instead of spending your weekly magic allowance on $10 downloads, save your pennies and invest in a book that is overflowing with ideas, advice, tricks and routines that will feed your imagination-- not to mention your families. If you're still unsure, ask around, visit Eric's site mentalismtools.com and you'll find out what the rest of us who got the first edition already know. And maybe Eric will rename his book: "Setting the Stage:JAM PACKED BUSTING AT THE SEAMS BURSTING with fantastic mentalism. 3rd Edition" d
"You're a comedian. You wanna do mankind a service, tell funnier jokes."

This is one of the greatest books I have ever read and certainly the most value I have ever achieved from a magic purchase. I don't know Eric well, only a few conversations through email or facebook messages in regards to other products I've purchased from him, his advice on prediction systems, etc so I'm not in any way influenced in my opinion other than Eric being a genuinely kind person. But truly, this book has been a goldmine of wisdom, practically an instant "never sell, add to the list of things to grab if my house was on fire" kind of item. A resource that is invaluable. I do wish he charged more for it to keep it a bit exclusive as I would pay$500 plus. Also, it's just a very nicely produced book which is lovely.
