Does anyone know what the following effect was called, and if so, is it still obtainable? It was performed by Paul Daniels years ago on T.V.
...A red key case was shown to empty and a blank (un-cut)yale-type key was hooked inside. After some typical Daniels 'jiggery-pokery' the key was found to be 'cut', nothing else was in the case either... Many thanks, Frank.

Sounds like a presentation for Mark Leveridge's "Key-volution". The same effect without the key case. This is a superb close up trick that has been in my working repertoire since Mark first released it over 20 years ago.(I perform it my own way, rather than the way suggested also, and I'm still using the same one!).
The effect is still sold by Mark. It is one of those things you will not find at your favourite huge discount magic suppliers, you will have to go to Mark for it. Mark, of course, runs a great close up magic convention in Bath every two years. There is one due next year. Another interesting, but different yale key effect was Peter Crush's "35B" a folding yale key which you could link a spectator's ring onto. This was ripped off in the U.S. as "Mercedes Benz" with a car key instead of a yale key. Mark and Peter put their heads together so that the two keys matched. I had both, the latter being stolen on my first trip to New York in 1982. I never bothered replacing it. Paul http://www.PH-Marketing-magic.co.uk |
