I had just finished doing a stage show at an amusement park. I was outside the theatre greeting a few members of the audience. Naturally, I was asked to do a close up effect. I did a ring flight. I did my usual patter. When I pulled my pouch out of my back pocket, to my horror no ring! Yikes! Apparently the ring was completely solid (picture a linking ring). It fell off my gimmick and into a drainge sewer that was nearby. I will never know for sure what happened but I can only assume. So after an embarassing talk with the lady, and a withdrawl from the ATM of $900, all was good. I learned my lesson though.

That's the exact reason I don't do Ring Flights. I dropped a ring once too when it was flying south into a topic, the ring was too light. Luckily someone saw where it went. Now if I'm going to make a ring vanish I would use that ring on string move, the ring doesn't fly around at all.

I too don't like ring flight. What do you do if the ring is an heirloom or wedding ring? $900 won't make up for that it is irreplaceable. Not a place I want to go!!!

Hi RSD,
I'm sorry that happened to you and how awful you must have felt. It must have been a moment of dread when you reached back to take the ring and yikes it was gone! The stuff of nightmares! Glad you hear you were a gentleman about the whole thing. C |
