Hey y'all I wanted to share my newest Penguin Magic release here. Let me know if you have any questions at all.
Here's the description from the email blast: They think of ANY card. You make it vanish. They don't even tell you what it is! And there are no switches, and no hidden cards. Watch a full performance here: https://www.penguinmagic.com/p/16568 1. The plot: I was "accidentally" dealt 6 cards when I was playing poker so I needed to make one vanish quickly." Just perfect. 2. The secret: They think of any card and it just vanishes. No switches. No hidden cards. And you can show each card clearly. 3. The props: These cards are made of plastic! They're designed to look like paper but they can live in your wallet and still last a long time! This is a perfect trick. Watch a full performance and get it here: https://www.penguinmagic.com/p/16568 |

It would be nice to be able to produce the vanished card from somewhere to hand out to take the heat off the other cards

Dan Harlan prefers to start with six cards. He makes one vanish so he ends up with five. You see him perform it live in the tutorial. Both handlings are explained and you receive enough cards to do Dan Harlan's six card version. |

Hey Josh,
I just purchased this. I didn’t see any mention of the card to impossible location or ending clean in the tutorial, did I miss something? |

I was wondering how you can end clean with this?

I'm sure it will be added soon. I teach my original presentation, how to perform the effect virtually, and how to perform a thought of card to impossible location that allows you to end clean. |

If you perform the effect as a thought of card to impossible location you have the option to end clean with 5 ungimmicked, paper card that can be examined. It starts the same as you see in the trailer. You show the cards and they think of one. They nam the card out loud and you cause it to vanish. I pantomime tossing the card to a new location, and show that the card has vanished from my hands. The spectator can go find the card in its new location. This sequence gives you everything you need to s***** the cards and end clean. If you want to end clean it's a little more involved but still very doable. |

Grabbed it, like it. Nicely priced and seems like a good, durable set of cards.

Yes, I can easily see this play big, and easy to have duplicate cards in your pockets to show the vanished card ended up in your pocket (wallet or another place).
Any plans of having this effect sold by a dealer in Europe? |

You can only do this for one person. Plus showing cards to think of, but "not this one" seems fishy I'm sure to specs. IF you have a few specs watching and you have one to remember a card, almost always someone else will think of one too. Then when you reveal, they will say their card also vanished, thus leaving a weird card count. The table drop showing non mis pipped cards I'm sure hits magicians, but the rest I feel specs may have issues with. I love the trick, but its just not for me and my audience. Great price and seems like a quality product.

This looks similar to Harry Anderson's Limited Edition. --Although method looks different.

"You can only do this for one person." Yes, generally that's the best advice. Only have one person think of a card. When performing this for a group, I make sure that only one person thinks of a card (The idea of having more than one person think of a card is a less common approach than having one person participate anyway, so this seems natural in most groups). When performing casually for a group I do not perform this head-on as you see Dan do in the trailer, instead, I turn to the side (This is explained in the supplemental video in the tutorial). This makes it easy to show the participant the cards and makes it difficult to see the cards from any other perspective. Imagine trying to secretly show someone you hand in a game of Go Fish, that's what this approximates. When performing one on one, this is the perfect trick to do. As I mentioned earlier, it also works well in a parlor setting. The audience cannot easily see the values of the cards, but the vanish plays big where you can clearly show the single cards. In this way, the vanish of the card actually plays bigger than the classic handling of the Princess card trick. "Plus showing cards to think of, but "not this one" seems fishy I'm sure to specs." This isn't really covered explicitly in either tutorial so I'll explain it here. You can have them think of ANY of the cards. You just use the Derren Brown ploy. So, you invite them to think of a card and repeat the suit and value in their mind, "Just say it in your mind...Ace of Diamonds, Ace of Diamonds, Ace of Diamonds." If they react, odds are they thought of the Ace of Diamonds, and you take credit for the hit. You then say, "Let's try this again with another card..." Then you appear to have guessed their card twice. If you're not comfortable with this approach, Dan's poker presentation covers it really well. He says that he needs to get rid of one card in a poker game and wants to keep the ace. You could even claim that you hid the Ace up your sleeve before being dealt the hand etc. "IF you have a few specs watching and you have one to remember a card, almost always someone else will think of one too." It's not too difficult to block their view using my preferred handling. "The table drop showing non mis pipped cards I'm sure hits magicians, but the rest I feel specs may have issues with." In a parlor situation, the vanish registers to the group better than the Nate Leipzig version. Usually, you would need to read all of the indices for it to register that the card has vanished. In a parlor situation, you have the participant acknowledge that there are five cards in the spread. When you vanish the cards and show them separately the audience and the participant can see that there are only 4 cards. "I love the trick, but its just not for me and my audience. Great price and seems like a quality product." I completely understand, thank you for the kind words. Quote:
On Oct 28, 2021, virtualwizard wrote: I understand the comparison, they are both Princess Card style effects that end with the vanish of the card. The methods are different. If you wanted to finish with a completely blank card you could do so with Princess on the Go. You would just need to secretly place the blank card below the ace in the spread and handle it as a double. This would allow you to show 5 cards and cause the thought of the card to fade away to blank. At the end of the trick instead of showing that you have four cards you would show all 5 and one would be blank. If anyone would like clarification on any of these handling options please let me know and I can go into more detail concerning the methods in private. |
