When I was practising card on ceiling, I was still at the university. I'm a firm believer in "practise makes perfect" so I used almost 10 decks. The entire ceiling in my office was covered with cards. It looked like art. As far as I know, the office is still covered in cards.

Something funny about it ...
1 year ago for my job (computers and hospitals) I had a 2 day meeting at "La Defense" (Paris), they give me a nice stand with an expensive ugly table ... it was a boring too serious meeting ... 1 hour later, starting to be bored, I look at the ceiling ... and "whooo it's amazing" I saw more than 10 cards (all signed) still on the ceiling I love life

On one, I tossed the banded deck to the ceiling, which was a false ceiling made up of panneled squares of about 18 inches square set in metal frames. As the deck hit the pannel, near its the edge, the pannel lifted which allowed the deck to slide in, at the same time disslodging the chosen card which then floated down.
It was a terrific accident and a wonderfull effect. And to all of you that doubt, it is true. I have had many accidental stunners as you all must have, could we here of some maybe? |

One time I was doing this trick for my dad when I was visiting him, I tossed the deck to the ceiling, forgetting it wasn't banded, and cards flew all over the place, one even hit the fan and was shredded! Just when I was trying to explain, I noticed that the only card shredded was the chosen card! Talk about a lucky stunner!

Not card on ceiling, but...
A guy saw my lecture and went home and made up the card in Rat Trap (a dupe card is used to seemingly get caught in the trap... ala card sword). He tossed the deck into the air, stabbed at the flying cards with the trap, released the gimmick and not only had the dupe card in the trap, but he ACTUALLY caught the selected card. :kermit:

Don't you just love coincidences?
In one of my effects I have a card forced and then shuffle the deck legitimately and the spectator can shuffle it as well, then as a bit of by play I turn over the top claiming it was the chosen card when in fact its just an indifferent one, I then pull from my pocket another card which changes to the selected one in a flash of fire. So I'm sure you can guess what happened, spectator shuffles the deck about 4 times, I turn over the top card and viola! the selected card, I just took all the credit and gave probability nothin!!! Accidental stunner. I was twenty, had recently left my employer to turn Pro Magician, and had been invited back for the annual company Christmas party. I looked the part, black suit with red lining etc. and had a crowd of old workmates around me insisting I did some magic.
I was just too nervous to do anything so kept declining. Then I nervously flicked my half finished cigarette to the side, they all followed its flight, expecting something to happen and it did. The cigarette landed on its filter end and just stood straight up still smoking. My reputation blossomed. I did not, could not have done anything to follow that. It was a wow. After that evening I tried many times to duplicate that accidental stunner, never could. |

Before we painted our house our living room ceiling was covered with about 30 cards. So the ceiling had realy become a guest book for our house since I performed this for everyone who visited.

This one was a one in a million.
I was at a buddies house jamming with like 5-6 other guys. We were just sitting down talking and showing our new stuff off. I was just messing with the cards cutting them random. I was cutting them very fast too just messing around. 4 aces one at a time just showed on the faces as I cut through the pack. It just happened. It look like I made a few double undercuts in a row and they all showed up one at a time. The funny thing about it was 2 of my friends were looking at it when it happened to do it and they blew there mind thinking I did it on purpose. I have done it before and had, you know like 3 5's or 3 7's pop up just random. Never before all 4. The best part about it was that they were the aces. We all love the aces. Me and my friends tried to make this happen again with a little set up. It didn't even look half, of half as clean as when it did by accident. To this day its been one of the funniest, coolest things that's happened to me. The very best part is that more people saw it so they can back me up. We only wish that would happen at a convention with like 20 people around to see it. Boy will your name blow up at that convention. Hahha.

The following are interesting memories:
One time in a bar, I threw the deck up and the deck broke the ceiling tile and the deck and selected card didn’t fall down. The owner of the bar looked at me like I was an idiot. That was my only deck with me (the bar had no cards). I apologized to him and paid for the damage. I realized that I needed to be more careful in the future. I did it in my favorite club seven years ago. Scotty York taught me his method for the card and bill on the ceiling. The card was the queen of hearts signed in the middle only with a red marker( It was barely visible). The bill was a dollar. If there was a new guest at this bar. I would force the queen and make their dollar disappear. I would palm the queen out of the deck.. Then I would then direct their attention to the ceiling. Dozens of times I have made the person think that it was their card and money. I even remember a time. When three of the people at the bar were arguing about whom I did it for. The owner of the bar and I thought it was really funny. I guess the point to this is “It’s not what you do it’s what you can make people believe that you can do” . I did it one evening at a restaurant. The next day I was there for lunch. The person I did it for was describing to a friend. I was in the next booth listening. She told the friend that she picked a card signed it and shuffled it into the deck. Then the entire deck floated to the ceiling, the signed card stayed and the rest of the deck floated back to my hands. I left asap, before she saw me. Boy, I wish I knew that method. It sounded great! Harry Carrol told me a great story. He uses Black wax (An idea of Karl Norman, who’s routine and ideas are so great that you should get his notes) . Harry was working a hospitality room for a client. He did the card on ceiling. A year later the Client had Harry back. The client told Harry that they charged his Company $600.00 to repaint the ceiling, because of the damage from the wax.. Harry offered to pay for the damage, and told the client that he was sorry and would not do it again. The client said “ Go ahead and do it I really like that trick”. When I was working at Malone’s Magic Bar, each magician who worked there had to perform different magic routines than every other Malone’s magician. This promised that the audience would see unique magic. The card on the ceiling was the only effect that every magician performed; as a matter of fact one of the working magicians was required to do this for any client that wanted. The 12 foot ceiling at the bar had hundreds of cards from each of the magicians that worked for the Malone’s I’m sorry for such a long post, but this effect is worth it!
