On the 'Cavalcade of Stars' show , broadcast Oct. 26, 1951 on the DuMont Network, Jackie Gleason performs a magic act.

Some years later, Gleason produced an all-magic episode of his 'Jackie Gleason's American Scene Magazine' show (broadcast Dec. 22, 1962), which included a performance by Milbourne Christopher (who was the magic consultant for the entire show, including the magic performed by Gleason) . Unfortunately that episode is not available for viewing on YouTube or any other video sharing site as far as I know. It was briefly on YouTube last year , but was removed with a copyright strike within hours ! (whoever owns the copyright on Gleason's shows is certainly diligent) I think the DuMont network produced shows are not owned by the same media group who owns the rights to the other Gleason shows, so that is why the Dumont 'Calvacade of Stars' shows are available for viewing.

This YouTube Channel called Free The Kinescopes! has some other interesting clips from the early years of television. (I only recently discovered this channel and have not yet had much time yet to search through all the videos ... I'm hoping to find more magic !

Does anyone have the video footage of Jackie Gleason with Mark Wilson on the Entertainer of the Year Awards?

Also, if it helps, I believe this was from 1977 or 1979.

Since I wrote that back in 2021, the special magic edition of 'Jackie Gleason's American Scene Magazine' from Dec. 1962 has been reposted on YouTube. No guarantee how long it stays up before the copyright owners of the Gleason shows have it taken down (so far it has stayed up almost a year) , so see it while you can . As of today's date , August 17, 2024, it's on YT . NOTE: this is only part of the special. Magic consultant Milbourne Christopher also performed on the show , but the Christopher segments are not included on this video -
