Hello forum members,
I'd like to introduce myself. I am a 22 year old (two days ago I was 21...) maths/physics student from Germany and my main interest in magic is card magic. But I try to study and read as much as possible about all kinds of magic (I own about 400 books and several videos but books are (and stay) my first love.). Sooo... let's get those cards out and talk magic Denis (and sorry for the bad English...) |

Thanks everybody for the nice welcome!
I am sure that I'll enjoy this board. (After all I was a "lurker" for quite some time before I decided to register.) Quote:

But of some books I only read the effect and first sentences of the method and then turn the page (for expample the Apocalypse tomes. I am one of those guys who CANNOT STAND his writing style.) Uli Weigel wrote: Hello! Yes, I do remember our discussion about the coin gaffs but please do not tell anybody that I do COIN effects (card reputation to loose...) And I do feel lucky to have a lot of books on my boards. While other (normal?) people might spend their money on music and cloths I prefer to buy paper. Yet I still have a (not too short) WANTED!-list with books I still plan to get. I guess there are too many not-so-valuable books published these days. Greetings, Denis |

Welcome, Denis! By the way, your English is very good. I look forward to your contributions, particularly since I am working to improve my knowledge of mathmatics (as applied to card magic). What part of Germany do you live in?
Best of luck, and enjoy your visits to The Magic Cafe. Vic Brisbin

Card Magic and Maths are quite fascinating but most things are not too practical in actual performances for laymen (I thought about Gray Code applications, combinations with memorized deck and so on and almost never performed anything of those ideas for laymen; only other crazy magician who can stand this kind of tricks). But it is intersting: A deck of 2n cards returns to its original order after x out faros and x=min{m : 2^m = 1 mod(2n-1)}. |
